Generalleutnant Paul von Hase before Freisler's People's Court
Lt. General and Berlin City Commandant, Paul von Hase, before Freisler's People's Court on August 8, 1944. Lt. General von Hase (among others) was found guilty and executed later that day at Ploetzensee Prison.
Hitler executed 84 German Generals. The 14 important Generals
Nobody escaped the regime of Hitler, even those who served under him. Hitler executed 84 German Generals for various reasons like:
1. The commander of the German Home Army, General Friedrich Fromm, is shot by a firing squad for his part in the July plot to assassinate the Fuhrer.
2. Ludwig Beck was in the custody of General Friedrich Fromm, and he offered to commit suicide (“accept the consequences”). His last words were “I am thinking of earlier times.” Beck then shot himself. In severe distress, Beck succeeded only in severely wounding himself, and a sergeant was brought in to administer the coup de grace by shooting Beck in the back of the neck.
3. Job Wilhelm Georg Erdmann Erwin von Witzleben was put to death that same day at Plötzensee Prison in Berlin. By Hitler’s positive orders, he was strangled with piano wire which had been wound around a meat hook, and the execution was filmed.
4. Erwin Rommel was linked to the conspiracy to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Because Rommel was a national hero, Hitler desired to eliminate him quietly. He forced Rommel to commit suicide with a cyanide pill, in return for assurances that Rommel’s family would not be persecuted following his death. Rommel died age 52 on 14-10-1944. He was given a state funeral, and it was announced that Rommel had succumbed to his injuries from an earlier strafing of his staff car in Normandy.
5. General Erich Hoepner was implicated in the failed 20 July Plot against Adolf Hitler and executed, age 27 on 08-08-1944.
6. General Fritz Erich Fellgiebel also a conspirator in the 20-07-Plot to assassinate the dictator Hitler. On 10 August 1944, he was found guilty by Roland Freisler and sentenced to death. He was executed, age 57, on 04-09-1944 at Plötzensee Prison in Berlin.
7. General Karl von Hase he was sentenced to death and hanged later the same day 08-08-1944, age 59, at Plötzensee Prison in Berlin. General der Flieger, Bernhard Waber condemned to death for mismanagement and hanged in the Spandau Prison, age 60 on 06-02-1945.
8. Generalleutnant Hermann Becker arrested and court marshalled on 01-12-1944 for impairing defence capabilities and condemned to death, loss of the honour to serve in the defence of the country, executed by firing squad, age 60 on 06-02-1945.
9. General Friedrich von Rabenau was arrested in the aftermath of the plot which culminated in the attempt on Hitler’s life on July 20 1944. On 15-04-1945, without having been charged or tried.
10. General von Rabenau, one of the last inmates remaining in the Flossenburg concentration camp was shot on the specific orders of Himmler, age 60 on 15-04-1945.
11. General Major Otto Herfurt arrested 14-08-1944 in Berlin, sentenced to death 09-09-1944 by order of the People’s Court and executed 09-09-1944, age 51, in Berlin-Plötzensee.
12. General der Artillerie Fritz Lindemann, arrested 03-09-1944 in Dresden, mortally wounded during arrest and died 22-09-1944, age 50 in Berlin, Generalleutnant Gustav Heistermann von Ziehlberg, arrested 19-11-1944 in ? and executed 02-02-1945, age 46, in Spandau.
13. Generalmajor Heinrich zu Dohna-Tolksdorf, sentenced to death 14-09-1944 by order of the People’s Court and executed 14-09-1944, age 62, in Berlin-Plötzensee.
14. General Karl-Heinrich von Stülpnagel, arrested 21-07-1944 in Paris, sentenced to death 30-08-1944 by order of the People’s Court and executed 30-08-1944, age 58, in Berlin-Plötzensee.
Between 1943 and 1945, the People’s Courts under jurist Roland Freisler sentenced around 7,000 people to death. In the first few months of 1945, some 800 people were executed in the Plötzensee prison, over 400 of them being German citizens.

Besondere Statue: Das Dürer-Denkmal in Nürnberg | Frankenschau | BR

It went all too fast? You want the details? No problem.
Here are our recommendations in order of appearance:
00:07 Weißgerbergasse
This little street in old town used to be the home of the whittawers. Also it is the biggest ensemble of half-timbered houses in the city.
00:09 Zum Guldenen Stern
Nuremberg is famous for its small grilled sausages („Rostbratwürste“ – good luck pronouncing that). They are usually served with mustard and sauerkraut. Noone has been serving them longer than the cosy restaurant Zum Guldenen Stern. More:
00:11 Hausbrauerei Altstadthof
Nuremberg used to be the bavarian beer capital with over 40 breweries. The Hausbrauerei is a quite young addition, but uses the legendary rock-cut cellars (see below) to store its beer.
00:14 Handwerkerhof
Built in 1971, this yard is actually a tourist attraction with typical little handicraft stores and restaurants. But even the locals embrace it today as their „little town at the Königstor“.
00:16 Documentation Center
Hitler wanted to build a monumental backdrop for the self-staging of his Nazi Party. Today the unfinished Congress Hall houses the Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds.
00:19 Kettensteg
The oldest intact iron chain bridge of Continental Europe! To us it’s a pretty pedestrian bridge in pretty surroundings.
00:21 Nuremberg Castle
Walk up to Nurembergs beautiful castle. It offers the best views over the city.
00:24 Adlerparkhaus
The second-best views over the city offers this parking garage. Just go all the way to the top and you are surrounded by thousands of red tiled roofs.
00:28 Rock-Cut Cellars
An amazing four storey tunnel system that was used to store beer for centuries. The Hausbrauerei offers fascinating tours through the maze-like cellar-vaults.
00:30
Dürer-Hase
The renowned German Renaissance painter Albrecht Dürer is the most famous son of the city. Beside the Albrecht-Dürer-Haus, there is another quite strange hommage to his work: A hare statue, referring to Dürer’s famous Feldhase painting - which is much prettier, and seen as the prototype easter bunny.
00:32
GoHo
Looking for vintage shops, trendy bars and the occasional hipster running around? Then Gostenhof is the place to be. This quarter nicknamed itself as GoHo.
00:34
Stand Up Paddling
Talking about trendiness: The very sympathetic guys from Boardnerds offer Stand Up Paddling tours and courses on the river Rednitz. A fun way to explore the outskirts of Nuremberg.
00:36
Formula Kart Track
The locals love their racing. Wanna feel like Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel for an afternoon?
00:38
Airtime Trampoline Park
Jump around, jump, jump! Seriously, this was so much fun!
00:40
E4 Bouldering Gym
Europe’s biggest bouldering gym offers something for everyone and is a perfect hideaway for rainy days in Nuremberg.
00:43
Toy Museum
1400 qm of toys! For 600 years Nuremberg has been a city of toy makers. Entering it, you immediately become a kid again.
00:48
Germanisches Nationalmuseum
The biggest cultural-historical museum of Germany. It’s huge! You can spend a whole day looking at exhibits.
00:54
Schöner Brunnen
This elaborate fountain has two rings (a golden and a black one) that can be spun. One is supposed to bring good luck. But which one is the right one? The opinions differ. Try it yourself!
00:56
Blue Salon (Tiergarten)
A dinner at the Nuremberg zoo? No problem – well, at least if you are a company who has the cash to host such an event, organized by the Tiergarten Restaurant Waldschänke. Not for the normal traveler – but so unique!
01:00
Café Katzentempel
Having a coffee while stroking a cat. Is there something more relaxing? We doubt it.
01:02
Ice Tigers
Nurembergers are very passionate not only about their football club 1. FC Nürnberg but also about ice hockey. The atmosphere in their stadium is infectious and watching a game a lot of fun. More:

Hi I’m Tiago and this video is about Albrecht Durer, a Painter regarded as the greatest German Renaissance artist. His work includes altarpieces, portraits, engravings, and woodcuts. Albrecht Durer was born in Nuremberg, Germany in 1471. His father was a goldsmith that married in 1468. They had eighteen children, of whom Albrecht was the second. Albrecht's brother, Hans Durer also became a famous artist. At the age of fifteen Durer was apprenticed to the principal painter of the town, Michael Wolgemut. During this period Durer learned not only painting but also wood carving and elementary copper engraving. At the end of his apprenticeship in 1490 he travelled and in 1492 he arrived in Basel, intending to study under Martin Schöngauer, a well regarded painter and engraver of his time. He left Basel in 1494 and travelled briefly in the Low Countries before returning to Nuremberg. In 1494 Durer was married to Agnes Frey according to an arrangement made during his absence. In the autumn of 1494 he travelled to Italy, leaving his wife in Nuremberg and went to Venice. Some time in 1495 Durer must have returned to Nuremberg, where he seems to have lived and worked for possibly the next ten years producing most of his notable prints. During the first few years from 1495 he worked in the established Germanic and northern forms but was open to the influences from the Renaissance. His best works in this period were for wood-block printing including a series of sixteen designs for the Apocalypse and seven scenes of the Great Passion. He also carved the first seventeen of a set illustrations of the life of the Virgin. The Venetian artist Jacopo de Barbari, whom Durer had met in Venice, came to Nuremberg for a while in 1501 and he influenced Durer with the new developments in perspective, anatomy and proportion. In 1505 he made a second visit to Italy. In Italy he turned his hand to painting producing portraits and altarpieces, notably the Paumgartner altarpiece and the Adoration of the Magi. By this time his engravings had attained great popularity and had begun to be copied. In Venice he was given a valuable commission for the church of St. Bartholomew were he painted the Adoration of the Virgin, also known as the Feast of Rose Garlands. Despite the regard in which he was held by the Venetians he went back to Nuremberg in1507. He remained in Germany until 1520 and his reputation spread all over Europe. He was friends with all the masters of the age including Raphael. From 1511 to 1514, Durer concentrated on engraving, both on wood and copper. In the remaining years up to 1520 he produced a wide range of works including Tempera on linen portraits, Engravings on many subjects and he also did the marginal decorations for the Emperor's prayer book. In the summer of 1520 the desire of Durer to secure new patronage following the death of Maximilian and an outbreak of sickness in Nuremberg, gave occasion to his fourth and last journey. He went to the Netherlands in order to be present at the coronation of the new Emperor Charles V. He was very well received and finally returned home in 1521, having caught an undetermined illness which afflicted him for the rest of his life. Back in Nuremberg he began work on a series of religious pictures including a Madonna and Child and two panels showing St. John with St. Peter. He also published a book on geometry and perspective in 1525. Albrecht Durer died in 1528 in Nurnberg.
What inspires me the most about his work beside his amazing skill in perspective and depth is also his entrepreneurial skills, were he founded a company with several employees that distributed his prints all over Europe making him a very well known and well regarded artist. Thank you so much For Watching, I do these series every week so don’t forget to subscribe so that you don’t miss an episode. See you next time Bye

Albrecht Dürer (German 21 May 1471 – 6 April 1528) sometimes spelt in English as Durer or Duerer, without umlaut, was a painter, printmaker, and theorist of the German Renaissance. Born in Nuremberg, Dürer established his reputation and influence across Europe when he was still in his twenties due to his high-quality woodcut prints. He was in communication with the major Italian artists of his time, including Raphael, Giovanni Bellini and Leonardo da Vinci, and from 1512 he was patronized by Emperor Maximilian I. Dürer is commemorated by both the Lutheran and Episcopal Churches.
Dürer's vast body of work includes engravings, his preferred technique in his later prints, altarpieces, portraits and self-portraits, watercolours and books. The woodcuts, such as the Apocalypse series (1498), are more Gothic than the rest of his work. His well-known engravings include the Knight, Death and the Devil (1513), Saint Jerome in his Study (1514) and Melencolia I (1514), which has been the subject of extensive analysis and interpretation. His watercolours also mark him as one of the first European landscape artists, while his ambitious woodcuts revolutionized the potential of that medium.
Dürer's introduction of classical motifs into Northern art, through his knowledge of Italian artists and German humanists, has secured his reputation as one of the most important figures of the Northern Renaissance. This is reinforced by his theoretical treatises, which involve principles of mathematics, perspective, and ideal proportions.
