Coolest Mcdonalds Ever in Freeport Maine!
I found this Mcdonalds in Freeport Maine and had to check it out. Apart from the obvious difference in the building design this Mcdonalds also served food that can't be found in other regions of the U.S. such as a lobster roll and blueberry pie. I found this interesting and hope you do as well.

Driving To L.L. Bean Original Freeport, Maine 2018
L.L.Bean was founded in 1912 by its namesake, hunter and fisherman Leon Leonwood Bean in Freeport, Maine. The company began as a one-room operation selling a single product, the Maine Hunting Shoe (also known as duck boots. Bean had developed a waterproof boot, which is a combination of lightweight leather uppers and rubber bottoms, that he sold to hunters. He obtained a list of nonresident Maine hunting license holders, prepared a descriptive mail order circular, set up a shop in his brother's basement in Freeport and started a nationwide mail-order business. By 1912, he was selling the Bean Boot, or Maine Hunting Shoe, through a four-page mail-order catalog, and the boot remains a staple of the company's outdoor image. Defects in the initial design led to 90 percent of the original production run being returned: Bean made good on his money-back guarantee, corrected the design, and continued selling them.
The 220,000 sq ft (20,000 m2) L.L.Bean retail store campus in Freeport, Maine is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with more than three million visitors per year, as of 2015.
Leon L. Bean died on February 5, 1967, in Pompano Beach, Florida. He is buried in Freeport's Webster Cemetery. The company passed into the directorship of Bean's grandson, Leon Gorman, from that time until 2001, when Gorman decided to take the position of Chairman, leaving the position of CEO to Christopher McCormick, the first non-family member to assume the title. On May 19, 2013 Shawn Gorman, 47, a great-grandson of the company’s founder, was elected L.L.Bean’s chairman. The company announced a US$125,000 donation to a new scholarship fund upon Leon Gorman's death in 2015, representing about 2.5 years of tuition at his alma mater, Bowdoin College.
Stephen Smith was named CEO in November 2015, the first time in the company's 103-year history that a CEO had been hired from outside the company.

The Most Unique Natural Wonder in Each State
Typical tourist destinations like theme parks and resort towns certainly have their charms, but sometimes, Mother Nature creates jaw-dropping attractions of her own. From caverns that feel like a cathedral to mesmerizing springs, these natural landmarks are worthy of a trip.
At 2,407 feet above sea level,Cheaha State Parkoffers fantastic views of the Talladega National Forest. There's also a popular resort at this park, which boasts a magnificent lodge.
Located on more than 4.7 million acres of land in southwest Alaska,Togiak Refugeis home to at least 283 species of wildlife. Visitors are welcome year-round to fish, hike, camp and take river floating trips.
Visitors to thispicturesque Arizona sandstone slot canyon, which is a Navajo Tribal Park, will feel like they've stepped onto the set of a spaghetti Western.
It's hard to choose just one breathtaking natural wonder in a state that has 600,000 acres of lakes and 9,700 miles of rivers. But,White Rock Mountainjust might win.
California is home to many beautiful natural attractions, and theChannel Islandsis one place you don't want to miss. The national park covers five out of eight islands in the chain.
This is another tough choice, as Colorado is home to impressive scenery. We're partial to theviews at this park, where you can drink in the sight of 300-foot-high sandstone rocks along with another important natural landmark, Pike's Peak.
Connecticut's hilly landscape creates the perfect conditions for an impressive waterfall - and you'll get just that at this gorgeous park. Here, you can watchFalls Brooktumble 70 feet down jagged limestone that's been worn by the passage of time (and water).
Located near the quaint town of Lewes, this park is home to some of thelargest dunes on the East Coast.
Florida isn't just known for its theme parks and nightclubs. Located about 70 miles west of Key West,Dry Tortugas National Parkis only accessible by boat or seaplane.
You don't have to go far to see the Grand Canyon ... at least, theLittle Grand Canyon. Though the 150-foot-deep gulleys that make up this wonder were the result of poor agricultural practices in the 1800s, the sight is rich in natural beauty.
One of only four green sand beaches in the world,Papakolea Beachon Hawaii's Big Island gets its coloring from the mineral olivine. Prepare for a two-mile hike on some rocky terrain to get to the secluded spot.
Located at the Great Rift, thesevolcanic cones and lava ventsjust might be the largest and deepest volcanic rift system that you'll find on the mainland of the United States.
This park is named after a55-foot-wide cave, which was formed over thousands of years by water. It's an interesting sight when viewed from a distance, but also offers a unique vantage point above the Ohio River.
Comprised ofover 2,000 acres, this park is most famous for its, well, dunes. Some reach heights up to 200 feet above Lake Michigan!
Those who think that Iowa is nothing but flat land will be surprised to see these awe-inspiring hills at the western end of the state. Thesehigh land formationswere created by the shifting soils, starting in the last Ice Age.
Also called the Chalk Pyramids, thesetall chalk formationsare an impressive sight. Each is the remnant of the Western Interior Seaway and is rich in fossils.
Underneath the lush Kentucky landscape sits a network of caves that are downright amazing. In fact, they comprise the world'slongest cave system.
If you love Southern food, you might already be familiar with this river swamp (which is the largest in the United States). Why?
Can you believe this is in New England? Thispiece of landlocated near Freeport, Maine, isn't exactly a true desert as it's made of exposed glacial silt and gets enough rain during the year.
It's not just about the 37 miles oflargely unspoiled beach(considered one of the best on the East Coast), but the wild ponies who can be found roaming free.
We can't think of a better place to drink in views of autumn foliage than at Mount Greylock, thehighest natural pointin the state. Depending on the day and weather, you can see 60-90 miles away.
This naturallimestone archstands 146 feet above Lake Huron and is one of the most photographed wonders in the state.
Located insideTettegouche State Park, this stunning cliff gives you an incredible view of Lake Superior. The cliff itself was formed over a billion years ago after a violent volcanic eruption.
The famed river is a national natural treasure. Some of the best views of the mighty river can be found when exploring the Mississippi leg of the scenicNatchez Trace National Scenic Trail.
One of thebiggest in the country, the swirling waters of this natural spring flow at a rate of 286 millions of gallons of water daily.
Naturally air-conditioned (but illuminated electrically), this sight consists of a number of caves. Together, they're one of themost decorated limestone cavernsin the Northwest United States.

Maine family rides out rough storm in their yurt
(30 Oct 2017) A severe storm packing hurricane-force wind gusts and soaking rain swept through north-east America early Monday, knocking out power for nearly 1.5 million homes and businesses and forcing hundreds of schools to close in New England.
Falling trees knocked down power lines across the region, and some utility companies warned customers power could be out for days.
Trees also fell onto homes and vehicles, but no serious injuries were reported.
Maine also was hit hard, with 492,000 homes and businesses losing electricity, surpassing the peak number from an infamous 1998 ice storm.
The Portland International Jetport recorded a wind gust of 69 mph, and the Amtrak Downeaster service cancelled a morning run due to down trees on the tracks.
Republican Maine Governor Paul LePage issued a state of emergency proclamation, allowing drivers of electrical line repair vehicles to work more hours than federal law allows to speed up power restoration.
In Freeport, Maine, Rachel Graham, her husband Corey, and their two-year-old daughter, Priya, endured the storm in a yurt, where they are staying while building a house on their property.
They listened as 20 pine trees on their property snapped and wind lashed the yurt.
It was really terrifying. You could feel everything and hear everything, Graham said. It was a lot of crashes and bangs.

Day 15 - Camden Hills State Park, ME.
17 Sept. 2013 - Launching Earth Shuttle Columbia - This is Day 16 of our 3 week trip in our new T@B Teardrop camper. It's Columbia's maiden voyage and we're heading up to New England. We've left Acadia National Park and have started our southern route back home down the coast of Maine. Located just north of downtown Camden on the shores of Penobscot Bay, Camden Hills State Park is one of only two State Parks in all of Maine to have both electric and water hook-ups for RVs. The park's 5,700 acres encompasses several mountaintops including Mt. Battie and Mt. Megunticook, the highest mainland mountain on the Atlantic coast (Cadillac Mountain is on Mt. Desert Island). The panoramic view from the lookout atop Mt. Battie provides a beautiful glimpse of this rugged coast and picturesque harbors. The rangers at the park were friendly, the sites were comfortable and the restrooms / showers were clean ..... everything you could ask for. A quick trip into the scenic town of Camden for dinner was a highlight also. Add to that the friendly camaraderie of fellow teardrop campers and you have a memory for life. This is one spot I'd definitely recommend.
