Adare Desmond Castle - County Limerick - Ireland

Desmond Castle ~ Adare ~ County Limerick
Adare Castle in Adare, Ireland
This short video is of a castle on the Adare Manor property not easily accessed unless golfing. Tim and I scaled a big iron gate to gain access to castle. For the background music I used a song from Tina Mulrooney whom I met when visiting The Cliffs of Moher. She thought it would be nice to play her music on my vacation video. You can find her music on amazon.com
I used an OFM 650 v4 quadcopter with a GoPro Hero2 mounted on the vibration free gimble. It was about 6:30 A.M.
Swanwood Travels to Adare Desmond Castle 9.6.18
Day 4 of our Ireland Adventure. We left our lakeside cottage rental on Lough Derg to head to the mountainside of Kenmare. On our way to Kenmare, we stopped at the Adare Demond Castle and it surely didn't disappoint.
We arrived at the visitor center just minutes after the last tour left on the bus. The receptionist phoned the tour guide and asked her to wait for us. We were able to drive through the gates of the castle like royalty and join the tour just a few minutes late.
While it rained through much of the tour, our spirits were lifted by the enthusiasm and knowledge of our tour guide. We learned so much and enjoyed the history of the community. The 500 year old yew trees in the courtyard absolutely took my breath away...a sight to behold!
Ireland - Most Beautiful Village - Adare
Adare - Ireland . April 2016 . Music: Kevin MacLeod
Adare - considered the most beautiful village in all Ireland. Its lies on the banks of the River Maigue set in the surrounding forests. The village was built in the 20 years of the 19th century, the Third Earl of Dunraven (1812 - 1871), owner of the estate Adare Manor. The main street lined with neat stone building with thatched roofs and still preserved remains of some religious buildings - e.g. The Church of the Holy Trinity, Franciscan abbey or Augustines. Above the bridge over the river stands the castle from the 13th century Desmond Castle.

Ireland Thatched Village Adare
In this short video, Charlie Adams shows you stunning views on the road to Bunratty, Ireland and a stop in Adare to see their thatched cottages. This ancient town lay upon the eastern bank of the Maigue near a ford (crossing point) in the region known as Ardshanbally. Historically a market town, in the Middle Ages, Adare was a major settlement and boasted three monasteries and a castle (Desmond Castle). You will see Desmond Castle in this video.

Adare Augustinian Friary - County Limerick - Ireland

Fanningstown Castle - Adare, Limerick, Ireland
One of the few remaining medieval houses in Limerick.
the late 12th and early 13th century the invading Anglo-Normans identified the strategic importance of the Maigue, and gradually established a series of fortresses along its western shore, some a rebuilding of existing forts.
In 1890 the castle came into the possession of J.F. Bannatyne, whose family owned a successful milling business in Limerick. They had built a state-of-the-art mill at Limerick docks in 1874 which still stands and is known as Bannatyne Mills. The 1901 Census indicates that Bannatyne did not live in Fanningstown. Instead, the castle and adjoining buildings were inhabited by five different families who mainly serviced the dogs and horses kept for hunting.
In 1936 the estate was acquired by the Normoyle family, who are still in residence. They are currently working on the restoration of the 19th-century castle.
Ireland 2010: Adare, Co. Limerick
We spent one night in the village of Adare in County Limerick, where we were basically just passing through, but wanted to get a little time since my friend that I was visiting hadn't really been there, just passed through several times, and wanted to get the chance to really see it. The village is very well preserved, and this is what it's known for - that the main street is kept so well from olden times :-) with traditional thatched cottages. There are also several old stone buildings worth seeing, we visited one of these, Desmond Castle. There's also a scenic walk along the river. All in all well worth a visit; quite a charming place. :-)
Adare Heritage Centre in Ireland's Prettiest Village (Limerick)
Snuggled in a wooded setting among the rich farmlands of the Golden Vale by the River Maigue, Adare is a model village dating from the time of the Norman conquest.
It has been home to the Earls of Dunraven (Quin family) for over three centuries. Thatched cottages line its broad streets, punctuated with beautiful stone buildings and picturesque ruins.
Adare Heritage Centre houses the Adare Historical Exhibition, Dovecote Restaurant, shopping facilities, tourist information and also organise Desmond Castle Tours.

Adare, Ireland 2003 - cottages, augustinian priory, franciscan abbbey, trinitarian monastery, St. Nicholas graveyard
Adare (/æˈdeɪr/; Irish: Áth Dara, meaning ford of [the] oak) (Population 2,454 (CSO, 2006) is a village in County Limerick, Ireland. Adare is designated as a Heritage Town by the Irish government. Due to its origin as village of the Dunraven estate (see also Thady Wyndham-Quin, 7th Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl), Adare has a more planned appearance than many Irish villages and towns.
