Germany: 'Little Berlin' plans re-enactments 30 years after Wall's fall

Thirty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the village of Moedlareuth, dubbed 'little Berlin' as it too was separated by a wall, plans several events to mark the anniversary.

We reconstructed ten wooden wall elements, each with a historical picture of the historical border crossing locations, said German-German Museum director Robert Lebegern on a visit to the dually Thuringian and Bavarian village on Monday.

The wall installations will lit up with red lights at night while film projections will be shown to remember German history and the complex process of opening the 1400 kilometres-long (870 miles) barrier between East and West post 1989.

A section of the concrete wall, built in 1966, will also be erected in the village's centre as well as a temporary gate for a column of Trabants to pass through, symbolising the crossing of the border.
