Evil Sofre (Şeytan Sofrası )-One Of the Most Interesting Place In Izmir In Turkey
Devil's Sofrasi is a hill located approximately 8 kilometers from Ayvalık Center. This hill is famous because of the Devil's Footprint and the Legend of the Devil's Table. It also has a beautiful view and sunset view. Another feature of the Devil's Table, which is located on the high hills, is also clearly visible on the whole of the Ayvalık Islands. This hill is an old lava deposit with a rounded appearance, and its appearance is said to resemble a table.
Devil's Foot Devil's Footprint One of the most important places in the Ayvalık Devil's Table is the footprint shaped pit. Known as the footprint of the devil , this pit also has a mythological story. The Devil's Story Ayvalik Devil's Table, the scenery and the Devil's Footprint is found in the pit as well as its own legend is a place. This legend attracts as much attention as the image of the devil's table.
In the 1500s, the Greeks lived in the Ayvalık region, which was dominated by the Ottoman Empire. One of these Greeks is fired by the church. This Greek, named Pelenelope, settled on this hill called Ayvalik, which is now called the Devil's Table and starts to live here. One year, there is a very severe drought and the people come to this hill to kill him, thinking that this is due to Pelenelope who is against the church. When Pelenelope learns about this situation, the people coming to this party prepare a very rich table and feast them. The people who are hungry because of the drought begin to eat the food by forgetting to kill Pelenelope when they see this very rich table. This is called the Devil's Table.
