Devil's Den & Fyfield Down Ancient Settlement 4K Drone
The Devil's Den or Devil's Den is a dolmen burial chamber on Fyfield Hill near Marlborough, Wiltshire, England. The chamber is part of a neolithic passage grave on Fyfield Down. Two standing stones, a capstone and two fallen stones are all that remain of what was the entrance to a long mound, described in the 1920s as being around 230 ft long. The capstone is believed to weigh 17 tons. The burial chamber was reconstructed in 1921.
The dolmen was named after the devil, along with many other prehistoric remains, after the coming of Christianity. A local tradition said that if water was poured into hollows on the capstone, a demon would come in the night and drink it.
Fyfield Down is part of the Marlborough Downs, about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of the village of Fyfield, Wiltshire. The down is a 325.3 hectare biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest, notified in 1951. The down has the best assemblage of sarsen stones in England, known as the Grey Wethers.
The site is to be distinguished from another Fyfield Down also in Wiltshire, east of Pewsey and on the edge of Salisbury Plain, near another place called Fyfield. The two places are only about 9 miles (14 km) apart.

Hello sunshine! Thousands flock to Stonehenge for the summer solstice - 247 news
Hello,sunshine,Thousands,flock,Stonehenge,solstice,summer,officially,arrives
Thousands of people are expected to flock to Stonehenge to mark the longest day of the year - known as the summer solstice.Every year the neolithic Wiltshire monument becomes the centre of day-long celebrations to mark the official start of summer.Up to 25,000 people are expected to attend the 2018 summer solstice at the site, where sunrise is due to take place at 4.52am, on Thursday. Onlookers will watch as the sun rises behind the Heel Stone, the ancient entrance to the Stone Circle, and rays of sunlight are channelled into the centre of the monument. It is believed that solstices have been celebrated at Stonehenge for thousands of years. The event has long been associated with the Pagan religion, with Druids expected to attend Stonhenge today. Jennifer Davies, English Heritage's head of historic properties for Stonehenge, said: 'Celebrating summer solstice at Stonehenge is a fantastic occasion for friends and families to come together to mark the longest day of the year in a very special place.'This year, we hope that even more people will choose to either share lifts or use public transport, and help reduce the number of cars and the amount of CO2 emissions in the World Heritage Site.'As its guardians, it is our job to look after Stonehenge and everyone who visits here.'We therefore ask people to please respect the stones and bring only small bags with you.'Please remember that alcohol is not permitted and help us keep solstice special, so that people will be able to experience midsummer here for many years to come.'Bag searches on entry might create slightly longer queues to get into the monument field so please be patient.' Last year, around 13,000 people attended Stonehenge for the summer solstice. Share this article Share Only small bags will be allowed into the Monument Field and searches will take place throughout the night.Superintendent Dave Minty, of Wiltshire Police, said: 'Once again we have been working closely with our colleagues at English Heritage and other agencies to ensure your safety at Stonehenge for Summer Solstice 2018.'Our main aim is to make sure that everyone attending can enjoy the celebration in a safe environment and the policing response at the site will be very similar to last year with officers conducting high visibility patrols.'Armed officers will be attending again this year to further enhance site security but this remains a precaution only and is not in response to any specific threat.'Traffic could also be chaotic. Highways England said a 40mph speed limit would be implemented on the A303 near Stonehenge to assist traffic flow, with lay-bys closed and the dual carriageway reduced to a single lane.A temporary pedestrian crossing will also be installed near the Stonehenge Cottages for people walking from Stonehenge Road in Amesbury.Gareth Price, Highways England's emergency planning officer for the south west, said: 'We are anticipating traffic volumes to increase around the eve

#STONEHENGE - Silbury Hill by Drone, Marlborough, UK
#MavicPro #SilburyHill #Stonehenge
Silbury Hill, the largest prehistoric mound in Europe, has long been an enigma. Set within the chalk downlands of the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site, it is traditionally thought to have been the burial place of King Sil. First investigated in 1776, then again in 1849, successive archaeological interventions culminated in Professor Richard Atkinson's televised campaign in the late 1960s. Following the dramatic collapse of the 1776 excavation shaft at the summit of the Hill in 2000, detailed surveys revealed that voids associated with the earlier excavations existed deep within the mound.
We are Kev & Yvonne and 3 Shih Tzu's, Charlie, Dolly & Delilah we first started our travels in a converted VW T6 that we brought from new as a panel van. After one year of travelling around we decided we need to find something that was more comfortable and less strenuous to set up.
That's when we fell in love with the Knaus Motorhome.
This is some of the videos and pictures we have taken on our motorhome travels around the UK.

Eastfield to Oare - EPIC DRONE FLIGHT 4K
Ive been waiting ages to do this flight and the conditions were right for it last night. I ended up flying to so many more places than I thought I would because once I got airborne I could see places on teh Rothschild's land like the Temple of Apollo and the HSBC Bankers Mansion... and lots of other things. I hope you enjoy this flight as much as I did. It really shows the Vale of Pewsey and this pretty part of Kennet well. I know a lot of you will probably like to walk these hills now. Have fun.

Rambling
Shown at 'Spoil Heap' exhibition, Wiltshire Museum Devizes, 8th July- 3rd Sept 2017
'Rambling' is a short film made in collaboration with University of Reading Phd student Claire Nolan, who provided the recordings of the conversations you hear throughout the film. The recordings were taken during a mindfulness walk led by Claire throughout the sacred landscapes of Wiltshire, from the archaeological dig site we were all carrying out an artist residency at to the the Sanctuary and Avebury Henge, following the ancient neolithic route.
The film is shot in first person perspective from a head cam, I hope this allows viewers to analyse concepts that come up in the movie through the filter of modern day experience of these sights, demonstrating the modern day relationship people have to the scared landscapes of Wiltshire and how to present that in its most raw form in a gallery setting. The film also exists as a time capsule documenting our artist residency at Marden Henge and my further research trips.
All content belongs to either myself or Claire Nolan.
