Deviramma is a popular deity in the region. Many Deiviramma temples are present in the region. The one present on the peak of Deviramma hill close to Baba Budan Giri is popular. Devirammana Betta is one of the three major hills in the range. The Hill is very steep and pointed. Temple is open only on the first day of Diwali festival time. Laks of people trek to this temple [Access point may vary!]. At Bindiga, a new temple of Deviramma is built, which is located at the foothill, 18 km north of Chikmagalur town, easily accessed by car. This temple is nice and location is serene with a background of three majestic peaks of western ghats, viz., Mullayanagiri, Baba Budan giri and Deviramma hills.

DEVIRAMMANA BETTA - CHIKMAGALUR (18-10-2017)
Deviramma Temple is situated on top Devigiri hill near to Bingidi Village which is around 3000 feet above the sea level in midst of lust green. It belongs to the Chandra Drona parvata of Mullayanagiri hill range, the highest peak point in Karnataka located in Chikmagalur.
Deviramma temple will be open only once in a year on the day of Naraka Chaturdashi i.e. the first day of deepavali. Devotees climb up the hill to take Deviramma darshana on the day with fasting and bare footed, the steep Devigiri hill on the early morning of the Naraka Chaturdashi. Even some devotees carry firewood, clothes, ghee to offer and pray for their problems.
To reach Sri Deviramma temple from Chikmagalur town which is about approximately 32 Kms. The bus facilities are available on the day of Deepotsava from chikmagalur town to Mallenahalli and further to reach the hill top, one has to take around 8 Km of forest greenery walks in the coffee plantations towards the steep hill of deviramma betta. It can also be reached from Arsinguppe, Manikyadara, Bababudangiri and Mallenahalli.

Vid 430 - Bike ride to Deviramma temple, Bindiga near Chikmagalur
The Deviramma Betta is a part of the Datta Peetha hills in Chikmagalur with a temple on it's peak which is 3000ft above MSL dedicated to Shree Deviramma. Down below, at the foot of this hill is another temple dedicated to the same goddess, but is relatively new. The place is about 20 kms from Chikmagalur located in a very scenic & peaceful spot.
Deviramma idol, facing south-east was arised between the rocks on the hilltop, it was found during 10th century. Later on originally found statue was replaced with the carved statue and installed to face east.
Deviramma is a incarnation of Chamundeshwari at Mysuru, Also there are stories of saying Chamundeshwari came to rest on the hilltop after destroying the demons (Madhu Kaitabha).
During 12th century, A sage (sanyasini) with the recommendation and guidance from the Guruji of Palahara Siddeshwara Swamy mutt, a place was identified and a temple for the Deviramma was built in the village, there are saying that temple was initially a hut covered with dry grass, some of information have been came to light with the help of an Astrologer from Kasargode through Ashtamangala Prashne.
Deviramma will be on the hilltop for only one day (Naraka Chathurdashi) and goddess will be at the temple in the village in all the remaining days throughout the year.
We rode our Discover 135 bike to this temple & took a detour through the back roads to Mallenahalli before touching the highway again. This was indeed a lovely trip. Hope to you enjoy the ride too.
