Devonport Museum, Auckland, New Zealand
The Devonport Museum in Cambria Reserve had grand re-opening on Sunday 30th April after a whirlwind refresh that began just one week earlier.
In partnership with television series Heritage Rescue, museum volunteers and dedicated locals have been working hard (some even sleeping there overnight) to revitalise and expand the displays in the museum. MORE INFO at

North Head, Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand
North Head, Devonport, Auckland
Maungauika/North Head is located in Devonport of Auckland suburbs, The North Head Historical Reserve is considered to be the most significant historical coastal defence site in New Zealand and receives a significant number of visitors each year.
We took half day to walk around this area, and explored the historical sites. We had a picnic at the park enjoyed the beautiful scenery. It was really fun to walk in and we saw a lot of gun emplacement. We saw people gliding around in parachutes as well. The North Head, Devonport gives you a spectacular view of Auckland and is a great place for the children and family to visit.
This is a trailer for this trip , more videos are coming!
The information below is from the website
North Head is one of the oldest of approximately 50 volcanic cones in the Auckland volcanic field having been formed over 50,000 years ago in a series of great volcanic explosions.
The North Head Historical Reserve is considered to be the most significant historical coastal defence site in New Zealand and receives a significant number of visitors each year.
Featuring a self-guided walk that covers approximately 2km over an hour, North Head holds a military tunnel complex, gun emplacements and fortifications and is well signposted with numbered descriptions and orange markers. The military installations date from 1888 and were built to protect Auckland from a feared Russian invasion with additions made for WW1 and WW2. A historical highlight of the installation is the large disappearing gun, one of a few remaining in the world.

New Zealand Vlog Part 3 DEVONPORT
Day three of New Zealand, Gabe and I chose to explore the town we were staying in, Devonport. A bit of a lay in, picnics and seeing some incredible viewpoints in Devonport were the best parts of the day. I mean who doesn't like spinning on top of a volcano like you are in the Sound of Music. The Hills are ALIVE!
