The Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne
A short sequence featuring The Devonshire Park Theatre in Eastbourne. All footage is my own. In addition to the front of the building and a series of slides this also shows the building from the right side.
From this side you can appreciate how 3 of Eastbourne's Theatres are linked together. The Winter Garden is just behind the Devonshire Park. The Congess Theatre's side elevation can also be seen.
It can also be appreciated just how closed Eastbourne's famous lawn tennis courts are to the back of the theatres.

Devonshire Park in Eastbourne is currently being developed into The Devonshire Quarter, where a flagship Welcome building is being constructed (and is now open) between the Grade II listed Congress Theatre and The Winter Garden to provide for new state of the art conference facilities in the town. Together with the Devonshire Park Theatre on one side, the acclaimed Tennis stadia to the North, and the Towner Art gallery, The Devonshire Quarter is a far-sighted £54+ million development ensuring Eastbourne will remain and prosper as an awesome seaside resort with amazing leisure and conference facilities.

Devonshire Park Eastbourne - Drone cam fly over
Devonshire Park in Eastbourne hosts some absolute gems of architecture and culture (and some that are not). It is currently undergoing a £49 million regeneration, by which the Grade 2 listed Devonshire Park Theatre, Winter Garden and Congress Theatre are being rejunevanted and restored to former glory and being joined by a brand new Welcome Building - a wedge shaped structure that will sit between the Winter Garden and The Congress proving first class conference facilities and disabled access across the Quarter.
Also featured is the amazing gem Park Cottage - the wonderfully quirky little building with the Union flag on top that was saved from demolition in 1983 and opened as The Eastbourne Heritage Centre in 1985. It still runs to this day with the dedication of the Eastbourne Society and the caring volunteers who staff it.

From the inspired short story by Sir Noël Coward comes this hilarious musical comedy of the last days of vaudeville.

Steve Hewlett and friends alfresco in Eastbourne
If you appreciate amateur videos on you tube please subscribe. You tube seem to work against us all now so we need to support each other to keep providing varied content. Thanks for your support
Steve's had a busy year in 2010. Whilst still undertaking performances around the country he has been starring in the long season variety show Hooked On Laughter at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre in Eastbourne. At the time of writing this he's still there until early November so don't miss it.
Steve has also been busy supporting the friends of the Devonshire Park Theatre. From my other videos you will know Steve entertained at their Spring Fair and here he is at the Summer Garden Party held at Charleston Manor Litlington, Eastbourne.
We had the whole routine on video but I don't think it benefits the artist duplicating the whole act, especially if you are going to see him live.
So, instead, I've produced a 10 minute highlights video. It's ended up being a nice little Steve Hewlett promo video.
In his routines Steve is always very complimentary about other well known ventriloquists. However I truly believe this guy beats them all hands down both by way of skill and personality.
It's not just the ventriloquism but the spontaneity of his act that makes him stand out. Many artists abide by a script no matter what. Not Mr Hewlett he seems to be able to use things going on around him to benefit the act.
His 'voice throwing' skills are amazing and his variety of 'friends' all makes for an act that always leaves you smiling.
