The main temple
The Dhakeshwari temple was built in the 12th century by Ballal Sen, a king of the Sena dynasty, andit is said that the city was named after the Goddess.[2] The current architectural style of the temple cannot be dated to that period because of the numerous repairs, renovations and rebuilding which have taken place over time. It is considered an essential part of Dhaka's cultural heritage. Many researchers[who?] believe that the temple is also one of the Shakti Peethas, where the jewel from the crown of the Goddess Sati had fallen. Although there is not enough historical context to establish this as a fact, researchers have been directed to this site while trying to locate the particular Shakti Peetha. Since ages, the temple has been held in great importance. The original 800-year-old statue was taken to Kumartuli, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The presiding deity here is the replica of original idol. During the partition of India, she was brought to kolkata from Dhaka with millions of refugees. By 1950, the businessman Debendranath Chaudhary built the temple of Goddess in Kumortuli area and established some of the Goddess' property for her daily services.The idol is 1.5 feet tall, has ten arms , mounted on her lion in the form of Katyani Mahishasurmardini Durga .On her two sides we find Laxmi, Saraswati ,Kartik and Ganesh.A Tiwari family from Azamgarh was appointed by the royal family for daily worship of the deity . In 1946, the descendants of that family came to Calcutta and were re-appointed, where they still serve the Goddess continuously. The Dhakeshwari devi worship is different from the traditional Durga puja of Bengal. According to the current priest of the temple, Shaktiprasad Ghosal,during Durga Puja, the goddess is worshiped in accordance with the navratri or nine night rituals of northern India.Now ,the temple of kolkata is quite deserted as most of the people are not aware of its historical backdrop and importance.However, the Dhaka Temple is full of devotees all the time .The Indian Prime Minister,Shri Narendra Modi visited her Dhaka Dhakeshwari temple and worshipped her on his Bangladesh visit .The Dhaka temple was further damaged during the Muslim mob attacks of 1989–90.

বাংলাদেশের রাজধানী ঢাকায় অবস্থিত একটি হিন্দু মন্দির। আক্ষরিক অর্থে দাঁড়ায় 'ঢাকার ঈশ্বরী'। অনেকে মনে করেন, ঢাকা'র নামকরণ হয়েছে এই ঢাকেশ্বরী মন্দিরের নাম থেকে।
সেন রাজবংশের রাজা বল্লাল সেন খ্রিষ্টীয় ১২শ শতাব্দীতে এটি প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন। তবে সেই সময়কার নির্মাণশৈলীর সাথে এর স্থাপত্যকলার মিল ততটা পাওয়া যায় না। এই কারণে অনেকের ধারণা যে, বিভিন্ন সময়ে এই মন্দিরের সংস্কার করা হয়েছে, এবং প্রতিবারই এর গঠনশৈলীতে কিছু না কিছু পরিবর্তন ঘটেছে। মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় পাকিস্তান সেনাবাহিনী এই মন্দিরটি ধ্বংস করে দিয়েছিল। বাংলাদেশ স্বাধীন হওয়ার পর, মন্দিরটির আগের গঠনশৈলী অনুসারে, পুননির্মাণ করা হয়েছে।
এই মন্দিরটি ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সলিমুল্লাহ হলের দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিম প্রান্তে এবং পলাশী ব্যারাক এলাকার নিকটবর্তী বাংলাদেশ প্রকৌশল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্রাবাস এলাকার দক্ষিণে ঢাকেশ্বরী রোডে অবস্থিত। মূল মন্দিরটি মন্দির প্রাঙ্গনের পূর্বাংশে অবস্থিত। এই মণ্ডপে রয়েছে দুর্গা পূজার স্থায়ী বেদী। এখানে দুর্গা দেবীর একটি ধাতু-নির্মিত প্রতিমা রয়েছে। মূল মন্দির প্রাঙ্গনের বাইরে মহানগর পূজা মণ্ডপ অবস্থিত। এখানে প্রতি-বৎসর দুর্গা-পূজা হয়ে থাকে। মন্দির প্রাঙ্গনের উত্তর পশ্চিম কোণে রয়েছে চারটি শিব মন্দির।

King Ballal Sen dynasty, founded in 12 century. With the architecture of the building as the match is not found. The temple is located in the eastern part of the temple courtyard. Durga Puja is the amalgamation of permanent altars. The goddess Durga idol is a metal-built. City Hall is located outside of the worship of the temple courtyard. Durga-Puja is here every year. Northwest corner of the courtyard of the temple has four Shiva temples.

Ahsan Manzil was the official residential palace and seat of the Nawab of Dhaka. The building is situated at Kumartoli along the banks of the Buriganga River in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Construction was started in 1859 and was completed in 1872. It was constructed in the Indo-Saracenic Revival architecture.

Hindus celebrate Rathajatra in Dhaka
The Hindu community celebrated one of their traditional festivals, Rathajatra (Chariot Procession) in Dhaka today.
The Hindus celebrate this sacred occasion annually to take a sight of Lord Jagannath, which the devotees believe to be very auspicious.
Hundreds of Hindus have participated in today’s Rathajatra, organised by International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).
The Rathajatra started from ISCON temple at Swamibagh in the city around 4:00pm and ended at Dhakeshwari temple after parading Shahbagh intersection around 7:00pm.
Rathajatra, one of the major natural festivals of Hindus, is celebrated in the month of Ashar (June-July) across the country.
The Rathajatra will be followed by Ultorath festival, to be celebrated seven days later.
Rathajatra is a festival of peace and friendship. It has turned into a celebration of equality against all sorts of injustice and inequality.
The organisers of Rathajatra distribute bananas, khoi and batasha during the procession. Kirtans are also rendered during the festival.
The festival originated in Puri, Odisha.
