धाराशिव लेणी उस्मानाबाद (Dharashiv caves Osmanabad)
उस्मानाबाद शहराच्या वायव्य दिशेला बालाघाटच्या डोंगररांगांत असलेल्या या लेणी पर्यटकांना आकर्षित करतात. डोंगरातील एका दरीच्या दोन्ही बाजूंना काटकोनात एकीकडे चार आणि दुसरीकडे तीन लेणी आहेत. या लेणींवर जैन आणि बौद्ध धर्मीयांकडूनही दावा केला जातो. धाराशिव लेणी या मूळत: बौद्ध लेणी आहेत. बर्जेस अँड फर्ग्युसन यांच्या सर्वेक्षणाच्या अहवालात तसा उल्लेख आहे. या दोघांनी राज्यातील १२०० लेणींचा अभ्यास करून हा अहवाल दिला आहे. १२ व्या शतकात या लेणींचे जैन लेणीत रूपांतर करण्यात आले. धाराशिव लेणींची शासनदरबारी ‘जैन लेणी’ अशी नोंद आहे.

धाराशिव लेणी ही भारताच्या महाराष्ट्र राज्यातील बालाघाट पर्वतात उस्मानाबाद शहरापासून km किमी अंतरावर असलेल्या c लेण्यांचे केंद्र आहे. भारतीय पुरातत्व विभागाने या लेण्यांची दखल घेतली होती आणि जेम्स बर्गेज यांनी भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण या पुस्तकात नमूद केले होते. महाराष्ट्र शासनाने धाराशिव लेण्यांना संरक्षित क्षेत्र म्हणून घोषित केले आहे. धाराशिव लेण्या 5th ते 7th व्या शतकाच्या आसपास बांधल्या गेल्या आहेत. राष्ट्रकुटाच्या काळात दहाव्या शतकात पहिली गुहा सापडली आहे, तर लेण्यांवर बौद्ध किंवा जैन धर्म आहेत की नाही यावर वाद-विवाद झाले आहेत. असे मानले जाते की या लेण्या मूळ बौद्ध होत्या, परंतु नंतर जैन धर्माच्या स्मारकात रूपांतरित झाल्या.

बालाघाट पर्वतात उस्मानाबाद शहरापासून K कि.मी. अंतरावर धाराशिव लेणी आहेत. पुरातत्व विभागाने या लेण्यांची दखल घेतली होती आणि जेम्स व्हर्जेजच्या “भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण” या पुस्तकात नमूद केले होते. बालाघाट पर्वतरांगेत एकूण 7 लेण्या आहेत. पहिली गुहा कोणतीही मोकळी जागा नसलेली कोणतीही मूर्ती नसलेली आहे. दुसर्‍या गुहेत पुतळ्याच्या उजव्या बाजूला कलात्मक काम असलेल्या पुतळ्याचा समावेश आहे. कलाकृती गंधर्व युगातील आहे. चौथी गुहा आत कोणत्याही पुतळ्याशिवाय मोकळ्या जागेसह आहे. सहाव्या गुहेतील पुतळ्याचे नुकसान झाले आहे तर सातव्या गुहेत पुतळा नाही. हे एक प्राचीन ठिकाण आहे हे टेकड्यात सुमारे आठ मैलांच्या अंतरावर उत्खनन केलेल्या लेण्यांनी दर्शविले आहे.

या लेण्या मूळ बौद्ध होत्या, परंतु नंतर जैन धर्माच्या स्मारकांमध्ये रुपांतरित झाल्या आणि जवळच नव्याने लेण्या खोदल्या गेल्या. याविषयी आपण नंतर बोलू. धाराशिवापासून miles मैलांच्या अंतरावर टेकड्यांमध्ये आणखी काही बौद्ध लेणी खोदण्यात आल्या आहेत. त्यापैकी पूर्वीचे सातवे शतक ए. डी गुहा क्रमांक II च्या मध्यभागी बर्गेस यांनी उल्लेखले आहेत. अजिंठा येथील वाकाटक लेण्यांच्या योजनेवर आधारित आहे. यामध्ये मध्यवर्ती सभागृह आहे, ज्याचे वजन feet० फूट feet० फूट आहे, भिकसच्या निवासस्थानासाठी १ cells पेशी आणि पामसानमधील बुद्धांची विशाल प्रतिमा असलेले गर्भग्रह. डोक्यावर पसरलेल्या एका सर्पाच्या कुंड्यावरून काही जणांना ती जैन तीर्थंकर पार्श्वनाथ यांची प्रतिमा असल्याचे समजते, पण त्या पायथ्यावरील धर्मचक्र असलेल्या मृगांची आकृती दर्शविते की ती गौतम बुद्धांची आहे. दुसर्‍या गुहेत (क्रमांक तिसरा) हॉलमध्ये I ’’ बाय ’’ ’हा दाट गुंफ क्रमांक I सारखाच आहे. नंतर त्याच टेकडीवर काही जैन लेण्या (क्रमांक पाच व सहावी) खोदण्यात आल्या. काराकंद राजाने उत्खनन केलेल्या प्राक्रात काराकंडाचारी मध्ये त्यांचे वर्णन केले आहे, ज्याला तेरापुराच्या (तगारा) राजपुत्र शिव याच्या आधीच्या लेण्यांबद्दल माहिती मिळाली होती.

कारकांडाकारी्यू हे ११ व्या शतकातील ए. डी. चे काम आहे. म्हणून कदाचित या लेण्या रास्त्राकुटाच्या काळात 9 व्या किंवा 10 व्या शतकातील ए. डी मध्ये उत्खनन करण्यात आल्या. ऐतिहासिक लेण्यांच्या survey व्या शतकात केलेल्या सर्वेक्षणानुसार, बी.सी. धर्मविषयक ऐतिहासिक संशोधक आणि पुरातत्व बुद्धिमत्तेत तीव्र फरक आहे (म्हणजेच लेण्या बुद्धांची आहेत की जैन. लेणी कोठे बांधली गेली या कालखंडातदेखील ठाम मतभेद आहेत. अलीकडेच १ 1996 1996 World मध्ये जागतिक बँकेच्या मदतीने गुहेतील काही भाग दुरुस्त करण्यात आले.

Osmanabad News, Dharashiv Leni visit in Monsoon during rain. धाराशिव लेणी या उस्मानाबाद शहरापासून ८ किलोमीटर अंतरावर बालाघाटच्या पर्वत रांगामध्ये या लेणी आहेत. “करकंडचरिऊ” व “बृहतकथाकोष” या दोन ग्रंथामध्ये या कोरीव लेण्यांचा उल्लेख आलेला आहे.

या लेण्यामध्ये उत्तर व दिशेस अनुक्रमे चार जैन लेण्या व तीन हिंदू लेण्या आहेत. येथील लेणी क्रमांक २ व ३ या प्रमुख लेण्या असून यात मूर्तीशिल्प आहेत. लेणी क्रमांक १ व ४ हे मूर्ती विरहीत आहेत.

मूर्ती क्रमांक ७ हि हिंदू लेणी असून लेण्यांच्या दर्शनी शीर्ष भागावर श्रीकृष्णलीला दर्शवणारे कोरीव शिल्पपट आहे. लेणीचा दगड शिल्प ठिसूळ असल्यामुळे लेण्यांचा बरासचा भाग व शिल्प खंडित झालेले आहे. वास्तूशिल्प वैशिष्ठ्या वरून प्रमुख लेण्यांचा कालखंड ५ / ६ शतक असून ९ / १० व्या शतकापर्यंत इतर लेण्यांची निर्मिती झालेली आहे.
या लेण्याची ऐतिहासिक व पुरातत्वीय महत्व लक्षात घेऊन महाराष्ट्र शासनाने हे स्मारक राज्य संरक्षित स्मारक म्हणून घोषित केलेले आहे.

Archaeological Field Trip to Osmanabad ft. Kurush Dalal

During late Diwali, Kurush sir took us to the field trip to Osmanabd. And it was by far the most happening and memorable trip. Thank you Kurush sir for showing us the jewels that nobody had any idea existed in Maharashtra itself.
