Mohra Muradu - Taxila
Mohra Muradu is an ancient baddish stupa and monastery near ancient city if Taxila, Punjab province of Pakistan. Ancient city of Sirsukh is located 1.5 km away. Mohra Muradu was built during 2nd century CE and belongs to the Kushan age. The ruins consist of three separate parts, which include the main stupa (right in the beginning of the video (on the right side), a votive stupa and the monastery and have been included in the world heritage list of the UNESCO.
The monastery consists of rooms for the students and the teachers, with a pool in the middle. Majority archeologists believe that the monastery was a double story building (or three story). The large, square shaped pool contained water for ritual washings and was about half a meter deep. The monastery also contained a kitchen and a water well. A umbrella shape monument in the monastery (once colored) is a symbol for 7 heavens and 7 earths.
