The Dhayah Fort is a beautiful hill top fort, the last in the United Arab Emirates and is located 18km north of RAK city in this northern emirate.

The 16th century mud-brick fort was built in a strategic hilltop position facing the gulf. As a defensive military tower, the Dhayah Fort played an important role in the history of Ras Al-Khaimah. Other ruined fortifications and watchtowers can be seen to the south of the hill. A battle in 1891 between the emirate and British forces resulted in the destruction of much of the fortifications here.

One of the oldest fort in Ras Al Khaimah .One of the best sunset spot in U.A.E.Around 250 steps we need to climb up to reach the top of the fort .From the top view (360) is really excellent .
-Free entrance here.
- No restrooms or cafeterias here.(Those who coming here don't forget to take enough water n snack)
-Ideal time for visiting this place is early morning or evening time .

With a backdrop of steep mountains, the bay of Dhayah has always been a very fertile area and has been settled in at least since the third millennium BC.
A conical shaped hill at the edge of the palm gardens and at the foot of the mountains, served as a natural defense post for the oasis. People have used this hill since prehistoric times for settlement and fortification alike.
Today it is crowned by a fortress, built during the 19th century on the foundations of much older structures. It is the only hilltop fort still existing in the UAE and offers a fantastic view of the lush palm gardens, the sea and the dramatic mountains.

Dhayah Fort is an 18th-century fortification in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is the highest hilltop fort in the UAE and in 1819 was the last bastion of local resistance to the British punitive expedition of 1819 which sacked Ras Al Khaimah, Rams, and southern coastal settlements as far as Dubai.
The fall of Dhayah was to pave the way for the signing of the General Maritime Treaty of 1820, the first of a number of treaties between the British government and the Sheikhs, or rulers, of what would become known as the Trucial Coast.

MOST HAUNTED PLACE IN UAE!!
I had no clue WHERE I WAS GOING!! I was just getting to know Ras Al Khaimah. I ended up in THE MOST HAUNTED PLACE IN UAE.

My sister was here in Dubai for vacation a couple of weeks ago, and as she had been here before and had seen already all the major touristic places in Dubai, I decided to take here outside of Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah. I haven't been to Ras Al Khaimah either so me my girlfriend and my sister went on this journey to know this part of the United Arab Emirates.
Before leaving home I wrote down on Google What to do in Ras Al Khaimah? and it came up with a few places so I got the names, place them in google maps and straight away we went without knowing what those places were. We had an amazing day we saw an ancient village in ruins, a palace, a fort and we saw the sunset up in the mountains which was beautiful.
Everything was fine, until we came back home and by curiosity I placed the names of the places we went on google just to know the history about them, and that's when I got surprised!
The Al Qasimi Palace is considered one of the most haunted places in the whole UAE, and that ancient village Al Jazirah Al Hamra was also haunted.

Ras Al Khaima || A weekend Road trip
Here's a throwback video of our road trip in Ras Al Khaima with my wife and friends. The historic Dhayah fort and the Jebel Jais mountain which is the highest peak here in the UAE.
I also would like to mention that I've re-edited this video and replaced the original song I used before to avoid any copyright issues.
FYI: All drone shots were taken last year when these areas were still Fly zones for drones. Just recently, the General Civil Aviation Authority of the UAE declared these areas a NO FLY ZONE for drones this year, so just beware and follow the new drone rules.

Dhayah Fort is an 18th-century fortification in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. This hilltop fort offers a commanding view of the mountains & sea.
It is the highest hilltop fort in the UAE
The fort is not the easiest to find, as you need to get off the main road and then drive through a small village with some massive houses.You have to climb many stairs to get to the top. Once done, you have amazing views all over the area there. So go on a clear day. Not so many history signs, but there are some. I really enjoyed the place as it seems to be a hidden gem. If you are staying in RAK, then you should definitely go.
It will be worthy to visit for those which have attraction for history, have fun to climb- for sightseeing
