BROWN CAPPED BABLER (Pellorneum fuscocapillus) - ENDEMIC TO SRI LANKA
Usually most of the birding enthusiasts do misidentify the call of the “Brown Capped Babler” (Pellorneum fuscocapillus) as Indian Pitta (Pitta brachyuran). But this call is belongs to the Brown Capped Babler. What I have observed is, this particular call of this bird begins, with the arrival of Indian Pitta to Sri Lanka which is in end September. You will not notice this call after April of the following year and that is the period of the departure, of the Indian Pitta from Sri Lanka. Please note that, these are my observations and if anyone has different opinions, please feel free to post it here for the benefit of the birding enthusiasts. By Dhilip De Alwis
