China Steam 2013 - Part 4 - Passenger train Diaobingshan to Faku
The so called Tiefa railway is serving a number of collieries in the Diaobingshan region (Liaoning province). There exists also a number of passenger trains. All are now operated by diesel locomotives, but the company keeps a number of steam locomotives in a small museum. Most of them are SY class including No 1772, which is the last standard gauge steam locomotive ever built in China (in 1999). No. 1771 is still operational and is used from time to time as shown in this video. All trains shown are service trains, no charters.
5-day steam locomotive tourism event kicks off in Liaoning, China
A 5-day steam locomotive tourism event kicked off in Diaobingshan on Thursday. Tourists can visit the steam locomotive museum, take pictures of steam locomotives and watch exhibitions during the event.

Steam in China 1997 Part 1
Some of the scenes on Steam in China 1997 parts 1 & 2 were uploaded to YouTube in 2009, size restrictions at that time meant they were only a minute or two long. I have now re-uploaded those scenes together with extra material.
Part 1
Tangshan colliery.
Anshan steelworks. This massive and heavily polluted steelworks had a rare class PL2 class 2-6-2 and a fleet of SY class 2-8-2s. There was also a selection of steeple cab electric locos.
Yebaishou: Many QJ class 2-10-2 locos were still in action in the Yebaishou area on passenger and freight trains on the CNR main line in 1997. Spirited running by the QJs was often seen. But diesel traction had started to appear.
Pingzhuang mine, a rare KD6 class loco is briefly seen in action.
China Steam Volume 1 - The Chengde Steelworks Line
In Volume 1 of China Steam we visit the Chengde Steelworks line. Running for 30 Km Between the main China Rail Network and the Steelworks. A dedicated fleet of SY & JS Locomotives work the line. Trains operate every hour fully loaded with raw materials. All locos face the steelworks and run chimney first up the 1 in 30 gradient. The heaviest trains getting 2 SY or JS Banking locomotives. China - TieFa - Steam Passenger & Main Road - November 2012 (Part 8)
SY1771 crosses National Road G203 by a level crossing, on the way back to Diaobingshan from Kangping, via Faku.
This SY, number 1771, was built in 1999 and is the penultimate standard gauge steam loco built in the world (with the exception of Tornado). The last built, SY1772, which is plated as 1999 but was outshopped in early 2000, is also based on the TieFa system.

Chinese steam locomotive KD6-487 hauls a charter train from Faku to Diaobingshan. DCN001477
The Chinese Consolidation steam locomotive KD6-487 transports a charter train from Faku to Diaobingshan of Liaoning province in Northeast China. The railway line leads south along the Paoziyan water Reservoir. In winter, the lake in the background is frozen, while the steam locomotive enchants with its imposing steam and lets beat the heart of every railway photograph faster in the Tiefa coal production centre.
