Mandu or Mandavgad is an ancient city in the present-day Mandav area of the Dhar district. It is located in the Malwa region of western Madhya Pradesh, India, at 35 km from Dhar city.
Mandu, due to its strategic position and natural defences, was an important place with a rich and varied history. It was an important military outpost and its military past can be gauged by the circuit of the battlemented wall, which is nearly 37 km (23 mi) and is punctuated by 12 gateways. The wall encloses a large number of palaces, mosques, Jain temples of 14th century and other buildings. The oldest mosque dates from 1405; the finest is the Jama Masjid or great mosque, a notable example of Pashtun architecture. The marble-domed tomb of this ruler is also magnificent

Mandu (city of delights), also Mandogarh called, is a ruined city in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India. It is located about 800 kilometers north of Mumbai, is located in 630 m altitude in the Vindhya Range and extends over six kilometers along a steep slope. The city was chosen in 1400 by a prince to the residence, he and his successors, the capital of the Sultanate of Malwa and extended to 1561, most recently Baz Bahadur, independently governed. Then they fell into the hands of the Mughal emperor Akbar.
Under the direction of the sultans 12 artificial lakes were created and deep cisterns dug into the ground to collect rain water with it. The niches of the cisterns offered in very hot weather retraction opportunities for residents. On the roofs gutters were installed where the rain water could evaporate and the houses thus cooled. Under Hoshang Shah sultanate was the scene of fights and battles. At his death his son Muhammad Shah Ghazni Khan, accused of cruelty, was deposed by his relative Mahmud Khilji dynasty. The father of this, the Mughith Malik Wazir refused the throne and Mahmud was achieved with the name of Mahmud Shah I Khilji dynasty (1436-1469) under which the war continued, but rose as the great monuments Hushang tomb of Shah (1539), or your own madrasa (1443) constructed after victories over Chittor.

The magnificent Mandu city-fortress stands on the crest of the Vindhyas, 1000 feet above the Nimar plains. Shadiabad -- City of Joy -- The Muslims called it, a place of many palaces mirrored in the lakes and pools of a lush green monsoon land.
Mandu's plateau covers about 20 square miles with deep chasms on three sides. The strong perimeter walls of rubble and masonry can only have been constructed with great difficulty, following the contours of ravines and passes. The last resort citadel of Bala Qila, at Sonagarh to the west, stands on a virtually isolated up thrust of land that no enemy could storm in strength.
Most of the monuments in Mandu were wilt by Dilawar Khan Ghori, Hoshang Shah and Muhmood Shah Khalji Hoshang Shah's reign saw the commencement of the great Jami Masjid, perhaps the finest and largest remaining work of Afghan creation in India. The Persian art of glazing had been carried to Mandu from Multan and flourished here throughout the 15th century: the turquoise blue and radiant yellow tiles of Mandu were unsurpassed, and just sufficient of them remain in the entrance pavilion to demonstrate the skill and artistry of the Malwa craftsmen. Jahaz Mahal is still intact while other monuments are in ruins. The heavy-set Hindola Mahal was built about 1525, also by Hoshang Shah, possibly as a durbar hall : its massive, battered walls with their inclining angle appear to sway slightly, hence the name Swinging Palace.
Baz Bahadur was the last Sultan of Malwa, most famous for his legendary love affair with the beautiful Hindu Rupmati, the lady of the lotus. The romantic Rewa Kund palaces, with their superb views across the Narbada valley far below, held all he asked of life.

Synopsis:

करेला एक ऐसी सब्जी है जो स्वाद में बेहद कड़वी होती है। इसीलिए ये कम ही लोगों को करेला पसंद होता है। लेकिन इसके स्वाद के ठीक विपरीत है इसका स्वभाव है। यह जितना कड़वा स्वाद में होता है उससे कहीं ज्यादा मीठे गुणों से भरपूर होता है। यह एक गुणों से भरी सब्जी है।
करेले में 6 ग्राम कार्बोहाइड्रेट, 15 ग्राम प्रोटीन,20 मिलीग्राम कैल्शियम, 70 मिलीग्राम फास्फोरस,18 मिलीग्राम लोह तत्व, विटामिन ए, विटामिन-सी के अलावा इसमें गंधयुक्त वाष्पशील तेल, केरोटीन, ग्लूकोसाइड, सेपोनिन, एल्केलाइड पाए जाते हैं। इन सभी पौषक तत्वों के कारण करेला केवल सब्जी न होकर औषधि का काम भी करता है। इसके औषधीय गुण इस प्रकार हैं।
- करेले के तीन बीज और तीन कालीमिर्च को पानी के साथ घिसकर बच्चों को पिलाने से उल्टी-दस्त बंद होते हैं।करेले के पत्तों को सेंककर सेंधा नमक मिलाकर खाने से अम्लपित्त के रोगियों को भोजन से पहले होने वाली उल्टी बंद होती है।
जोड़ों के दर्द में करेले की सब्जी का सेवन व जोड़ों पर करेले के पत्तों का रस लगाने से आराम मिलता है।
