About Dilkusha Kothi Lucknow:
Dilkusha Kothi is the remains of an eighteenth-century house built in the English baroque style in the quiet Dilkusha area of Lucknow in India. Today there are only a few towers and external walls as a monument, though the extensive gardens remain. The house was shelled during its involvement in the Lucknow siege in 1857 together with the Residency and the nearby school of La Martiniere.
The house was constructed around 1800 by the British resident Major Gore Ouseley, a friend of the ruler of Oudh, Nawab Saadat Ali Khan. It was initially intended as a hunting lodge for the Nawabs of Oudh, although it was later used as a summer resort too. Changes were made to its design by Nawab, King Nasir-ud-Din Haider (1827-1837). The building had patterned walls and unusually no inner courtyard as was traditional in Indian architecture. The building therefore had a smaller footprint and did not extend over a large area but was taller than traditional local architecture. Like its neighbour, La Constantia, it is located on the banks of Lucknow's main river, the Gomti.
The Design for Seaton Delaval Hall
The design bears a startling resemblance to the style of Seaton Delaval Hall in Northumberland, England. Seaton Delaval Hall was built in 1721 and was designed by Sir John Vanbrugh, who also designed Blenheim Palace. Dilkusha Kothi is depicted in a rare early albumen print by the photographer Samuel Bourne, dating from 1864-1865.
The British actress Mary Linley Taylor was impressed by Dilkusha Kothi and named her own home in Seoul after it. She explained, From that moment in India when first I saw Dilkusha, the Palace of Heart's Delight, I dreamed of this moment when I would bestow upon our home the name 'Dilkusha'.

MOST HAUNTED PLACE IN LUCKNOW | DILKUSHA KOTHI | VLOG | Iflah jamal
Thanks for watching this video!!
#Dilkusha Kothi Palace, now partly in-ruins structure, gives an insight into the memories of bygone eras. Built in the year 1800 by Major Gore Ouseley, a Britisher who was a friend of the then Nawab of Awadh, Saadat Ali Khan, this monument was once a hunting lodge as well as a summer retreat of the rulers. The architectural style of this three-storeyed monument is different from the usual Indian style of that period as the building was designed in the European Baroque style. The huge pillars on the front, grand steps leading to those pillars and the spires (which are now barely visible) on the sides of the monument are examples of this style of architecture.
The Archaeological Survey of India has taken up steps to preserve this place and today, the park around this monument is a favourite place for visitors, mostly during winter for the glorious sunshine. A visit to this marvellous piece of #Lucknow, which is situated near the bank of the river Gomti, will provide you a glimpse of the ancient splendour and style, for which the city was and is famous all over the country...

Hey friends and viewers today's Vlogs Classic heritage Place of Lucknow .Please find the below details of places .
#lkobikersvlogs
General Khoti :-The story of 1857, India's first war of independence, would be told anew with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) shifting the 1857 memorial museum from the Residency to the General Kothi soon.
The paperwork is over and shifting would begin in May. The museum at Residency, set up in 2003, evolved from a collection of articles and artifacts excavated from the premises. Additional material such as drawings, photographs and lithographs, was also placed to add value to the visitor's experience. There are 10 galleries displaying different items related to the war of 1857.
Chattar Manzil :- It was constructed by order of Nawab Ghazi Uddin Haider and completed after his death by his successor, Nawab Nasir Uddin Haider.[2][3][4]
The Chattar Manzil stand on the banks of the River Gomti. The Chattar Manzil consisted of a Bari (larger) Chattar Manzil and Chhoti (smaller) Chattar Manzil, however only the larger one still exists. These two buildings were examples of the Indo-European-Nawabi architectural style, even though the Bari Chattar Manzil has been altered over the years. The palaces were named after the chattris (umbrella-shaped domes) on the octagonal pavilions, which crown the buildings.[5] The imposing building has large underground rooms and a dome surmounted by a gilt umbrella.
SAADAT ALI TOMB :- Before it came in the present from the same place was the part of grand palace where in Ghazi -ud-Din Haider used to reside, which was built by Saadat Ali khan was laid to rest. where his son Ghazi -ud-Din Haider used to dwell. Later this residence turned into the present day tomb .which was denoted as Kaiser Bagh by the royal family .

Dilkusha (Hindi: दिलकुशा, Urdu: دِلکُشا) is a residential colony in Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, India. Near the banks of the River Gomti, the colony has been the residence of government officials for more than a hundred years. Dilkusha is situated 2 km from Hazratganj in central Lucknow, and is close to amenities and schools such as Loreto and La Martiniere. Dilkusha means my heart is happy.
The palace of Dilkusha Kothi, the oldest building in the colony, was built in the eighteenth century by Nawab Saadat Ali Khan (1798-1814). The palace (now a ruin) formerly served as a hunting lodge for British officers and nawabs. Dilkusha Kothi was an Indianised English baroque style building, but was damaged considerably during the First War of Indian Independence in 1857.
Today the colony is completely owned by the government of Uttar Pradesh. The residences are divided into A, B, C, PW and EH (the last two being completely reserved for the officers of the Public Works Department of Uttar Pradesh with PW - referring to Public Works and EH to Experimental Housing being one of the few multistory government housing). The colony for the most part is close-knit, with journalists, academics, IAS, PCS and other government officials living here. There is a recreation club for the residents of the colony.
