Dinagyang 2020 is really intense and I am so happy to experience it with Martin Solhaugen even if I lost them during the Dinagyang Street parade. The effort of every tribe who participated is really intense and I am not gonna lie that I had goosebumps while watching everyone's performance. They really put their all their heart and effort to it that's why it truly is a World-class festival!

Sadtong nahauna nga istorya kag panahon
Nakilala ka sa ngalan nga Irong-irong
Puno sang manggad kag sang katahum
Sa idalum ni Datu Paiburong.
Ipabugal ko ang imo ngalan
Ipabugal ko ang mga binuhatan
Sang imong ginikanan kag imong kabataan
Gabuligay pakadto sa kauswagan.
Chorus:
Hala Bira Iloilo! Sulong sa pagbag-o!
Hala Bira Iloilo! Matahum nga banwa ko!
Hala Bira Iloilo! Ipabugal ang ngalan mo!
Sa tanan nga panahon ikaw ang palanggaon!
Sa paglakat sang malawig nga tinion
Nakilala ka sa madamong bulohaton
Ang imo nga dinagyang kag imo kasadyahan
Padayon nga ginapasidunggan!
Himuon ko ang tanan nga masarangan
Isinggit ko sa bilog nga kalibutan
Kita mga Ilonggo tunay nga Pilipino
Mapisan kag dungganon nga mga tawo!
Chorus:
Hala Bira Iloilo! Sulong sa pagbag-o!
Hala Bira Iloilo! Matahum nga banwa ko!
Hala Bira Iloilo! Ipabugal ang ngalan mo!
Sa tanan nga panahon ikaw ang palanggaon!
Chorus:
Hala Bira Iloilo! Sulong sa pagbag-o!
Hala Bira Iloilo! Matahum nga banwa ko!
Hala Bira Iloilo! Ipabugal ang ngalan mo!
Sa tanan nga panahon ikaw ang palanggaon!

Hala Bira Iloilo! Ikaw syudad kag probinsya!
Hala Bira Iloilo! Napun-an ka sang kasadya!
Hala Bira Iloilo! Itib-ong ang kalinungan!

Dinagyang Festival 2020 in Iloilo Philippines - ALL 8 TRIBE DANCES
What an awesome day! This was a last minute decision on coming to Iloilo for the Dinagyang Festival but I'm so glad I did. The costumes and the dances by all of the 8 tribes were amazing! I was so lucky to be able to see this in person. I can’t imagine how much time and effort went into making all the amazing costumes and learning all the steps to the dances. This is an experience I will never forget.
Here's some info about Dinagyang if you're interested. (Wiki)
The Dinagyang Festival is a religious and cultural festival in Iloilo City, Philippines held on the 4th Sunday of January, or right after the Sinulog in Cebu and the Ati-Atihan Festival in Kalibo, Aklan. Dinagyang was also voted as the Best Tourism event three times in a row among any other festivals in the Philippines, it is also the most awarded festival in the country, because of its legacy, popularity and innovation . it receives an honor and regarded as World Class Festival.
History
Dinagyang began after Rev. Fr. Ambrosio Galindez, the first Filipino Rector of the Agustinian Community and Parish Priest of the San Jose Parish introduced the devotion to Santo Niño in November 1967 after observing the Ati-Atihan Festival in the province of Aklan. On 1968, a replica of the original image of the Santo Niño de Cebu was brought to Iloilo by Fr. Sulpicio Enderez of Cebu as a gift to the Parish of San Jose. The faithful, led by members of Confradia del Santo Niño de Cebu, Iloilo Chapter, worked to give the image a fitting reception starting at the Iloilo Airport and parading down the streets of Iloilo.[1]
In the beginning, the observance of the feast was confined to the parish. The Confradia patterned the celebration on the Ati-atihan of Ibajay, Aklan, where natives dance in the streets, their bodies covered with soot and ashes, to simulate the Atis dancing to celebrate the sale of Panay. It was these tribal groups who were the prototype of the present festival.[2]

Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo City Philippines
The Dinagyang is a religious and cultural festival in Iloilo City, Philippines held on the fourth Sunday of January, or right after the Sinulog In Cebu and the Ati-Atihan in Aklan. It is held both to honor the Santo Niño and to celebrate the arrival on Panay of Malay settlers and the subsequent selling of the island to them by the Atis.

A participant of Dinagyang Festival
In 1977, the Marcos government ordered the various regions of the Philippines to come up with festivals or celebrations that could boost tourism and development. The City of Iloilo readily identified the Iloilo Ati-atihan as its project. At the same time the local parish could no longer handle the growing challenges of the festival.
Dinagyang was voted as the best Tourism Event for 2006, 2007 and 2008 by the Association of Tourism Officers in the Philippines. It is the first festival in the world to get the support of the United Nations for the promotion of the Millennium Development Goals, and cited by the Asian Development Bank as Best Practice on government, private sector & NGO cooperatives.
Although the Dinagyang Festival focuses on the Santo Niño, Ati-Atihan traces its roots to the barter or purchase of Panay Island by the 10 Bornean datus from Ati King Marikudo during the first half of the 13th Century in Sinugbuhan, San Joaquin in southern Iloilo.
