Chinese food festival in Dinghai, China
China has an enriched food source. However, Chinese people enjoy their own food culture a lot. There are many food exhibitions take place in the country around the year. And these exhibitions are very cheerful. I have been such a food festival in a rural area of Dinghai district.
Dinghai Saturday
We had a full schedule most of this trip but ended up with a free afternoon. Since we were to eat dinner in Dinghai with the factory owners ... we went there to see the sites and cross the new bridge. We visited the Cobble Bay and the beach where they have international sand sculpture contests. We went out on a crab boat, hauled in some crabs and had them cooked on the boat.
Interesting afternoon and evening ... captured on these video segments.

First Opium War
The First Opium War (1839–42), also known as the Opium War and as the Anglo-Chinese War, was fought between Great Britain and China over their conflicting viewpoints on diplomatic relations, trade, and the administration of justice for foreign nationals.
Chinese goods, particularly silk, spices and tea were in high demand in European countries. However, the market for Western goods in China was virtually non-existent, partly because China was largely self-sufficient and trade laws denied foreigners access to China's interior. In addition the Chinese Emperor banned the trade of most European goods, leaving silver and gold as the only acceptable method of payment. This caused a silver shortage back in Europe and became a significant hindrance to trade. This trade deficit was alleviated when the Europeans found a product the Chinese consumers did want; highly addictive opium. While this too was banned by the Emperor, smuggling of the drug was rampant. The silver deficit was quickly reduced and eventually reversed. However, as a result of this new trade, the number of opium addicts increased, which greatly concerned successive emperors.

Fishermen Net Rare Croaker Which Weighs 105 Pounds And 5ft 2in Long
A group of Chinese fishermen are expecting to sell a huge croaker they caught for 1.1 million yuan (£127,000).
The men were surprised to spot the fish in the waters off Daishan near the city of Zhoushan, east China, on September 18, reported People's Daily Online.
Weighing 105 pounds and measuring 5ft 2in in length, the fish was so large it took four to five men to drag it onto the boat.
The fish is reportedly a rare type of croaker, known to the local fishermen as the 'Zhoushan big fish'.
'The fish is as rare as panda,' said Chen, relative of one of the trawlermen who caught the fish.
Chen added: 'I haven't seen this fish for over 20 years.
'It's so blessed to catch it. Even veteran fisherman may not have that chance.'
After being caught, the fish was put in the freezer and shipped to nearby Dinghai District.
The group of fishermen plans to sell the fish for 1.1 million yuan, or £127,000.
According to them, the fish's swim bladder is especially valuable as it is believed to be a great source of protein and fat.
The organ is frequently used by Chinese medicine practitioners to cure heart and lung ailments.
Chen said they have received lots of inquiries from interested buyers, but they haven't sold the fish yet.
Many social media users wondered if the high price is worth paying.
One user asked on qq.com: 'Will I become immortal after eating this fish?'
Another simply asked: 'A dead fish costs over 1 million yuan?'
A third one joked: 'With this money, I can buy a submarine.'
