Dingle Distillery in Ireland produces the #worldsbestgin
We were filming an episode of Road less Traveled in Ireland and exploring the tale of Irish whiskey. We come across #DingleDistillery and cover their whiskey which was still not of age. So to get by, they were producing Gin and Vodka. After we wrapped, they very kindly offered us a bottle of their gin. Turns out that the Gin that we tasted and thought was fantastic, was recently awarded #worldsbestgin! Way to go Dingle Distillery!
About Dingle Whiskey - Distillery Team
The Dingle Whiskey Distillery was crafted and conceived by three independent spirits: Oliver Hughes; Liam LaHart and Peter Mosley. The Dingle Whiskey Distillery came into being in the cold winter of 2012. Ireland was beginning to come out of the greatest recession in many people’s memory. However unbeknownst to many, the most significant event in the Irish whiskey industry in decades was happening in a tin shed in the town of Dingle, Co. Kerry. Witnessed by few, the first Dingle Whiskey Casks were filled on the 18th December 2012. Three years and a day later on the 19th December 2015, one cask, Cask No. 2 was released. Our whiskey was born. Hear a little more about Dingle Whiskey and the Dingle Whiskey Distillery from those who make it.

The Dingle Whiskey School in Dingle Distillery
I took part in the Dingle Whiskey School for the Irish Examiner - you can read the article here:
In the video you see students under the tutorage of Master Distiller Michael Walsh and John Moriarty of The Dublin Bar Academy (John is the one with the glasses).
The school is fantastic, as is the area - I highly recommend a trip down there. Also try to visit Dick Mack's, officially Ireland's best whiskey pub.

About Dingle Gin...
Dingle Gin is truly a product of its environment.
Using our own hand beaten copper still; Aisling, meaning ‘dream’ in Irish, spirit vapour passes through our flavour basket to capture the unique character of six traditional botanicals and seven traditional and locally grown & harvested botanicals: rowan berry, fuschia, bog myrtle, heather, chervil, hawthorn and angelica. The resulting distillate is cut with pure water drawn from our well 240 feet below our distillery. Each bottle is then hand filled and numbered by batch.
In 2019 Dingle Gin was awarded World’s Best Gin at the World Gin Awards.

Hello World travelers! This week’s vlog features the Distillery Tour in Dingle, Ireland. No matter where I am traveling in the world, I’ve always made time for a distillery, brewery and/or wine tour.
This distillery tour at the Dingle Distillery was one for the books! It’s a very popular tourist destination so I would highly recommend booking in advance. I actually met another solo traveler while I was in Dingle and she was unable to do the tour as they were sold out for the day. So please, if you’d would like the opportunity to experience this distillery, please make sure to book ahead, you won’t be disappointed!
The cost of the tour is €15 and it comes with two tasting: whiskey, vodka and/or gin. They also provide either ginger ale, seltzer water, and/or tonic water with the tasting as well. Oh, and a surplus of juniper berries for your gin! I must say, the quality of their whiskey, gin, and vodka is incredible, so you may not need the chasers. After the tour, I actually became a lover of their gin! But, unfortunately, it is not one of those gins that you can find here at the bars in the states.
The tour guides were very friendly and informative. They also had a couple extra tastings to pass around so there is a possibility that you will be able to sample all 3 tastings….if you’re lucky. : )
One side note that I didn’t know when signing up for this distillery tour was that they don’t have any of their whiskey, vodka, or gin available for purchase onsite. You would have to go on their website and catch one of their batches before they’ve sold out. That just goes to show you how popular this distillery is! However, you are able to purchase a barrel for I believe it was €1,000-€1,500 and resale it with the distillery and make a profit or keep it for yourself!
One other side note, the distillery is about a 20-25 minute walk from the city centre and I found it difficult to find a cab.
If you are walking, wear comfortable shoes and please ensure to bring an umbrella. You never know when it could shower, so be prepared!
If you are looking to take a cab to the distillery, I’d recommend requesting one from your accommodation. The distillery will assist you with finding a cab to take you back to your accommodation once the tour has ended.
If you would like to visit their website and check it out for yourselves, go to
And if you have any questions or you would like to leave a comment, I look forward to hearing from you!

A wonderful distillery tour in Dingle. I was playing around with Time Warp settings on the Gopro Hero 7. If you're looking to learn more about the Irish whiskey process and the history behind it, this is time & money well spent. The Dingle Whiskey Distillery is not a megabrands, nor do they distil for anyone else. The scale is modest, the approach to what they make is essentially artisan and they have rekindled the tradition of independent distilling in Ireland. Two hundred years ago, this small island had over a hundred officially recognised distilleries; by the turn of this century there were two. When the first spirit trickled from the stills in Dingle Distiller in November 2012 it represented a milestone in the history of distilling in Ireland.
