Dinosaur foot print at Staffin Beach, Isle of Skye
Finally saw the fossil dino footprint at Staffin Beach :) I think these were supposed to be Megalosaurs?.. or something.
Dinosaurier Fußabdruck - Isle of skye - Schottland / Dinosaur footprint track trail scotland

Quiraing Road descent to Staffin
A short clip of driving the twisty section of the Quiraing road as it descends into Staffin. Driving this road single handed whilst holding the camera wasn't a great idea, but not as hard as you might think. By the way, the car was a left hand drive Lancia Thema.

50 Footprints of Dinosaurs From 170 Million Years Ago Unearthed in Isle of Skye
Scientists have discovered close to 50 footprints on the Isle of Skye left behind by the largest dinosaurs.
The sharp-clawed, three-toed prints of meat-eating theropods and tracks of the 15 metres long sauropods were made in a muddy lagoon 170 million years ago but have only recently been spotted in the shale rocks of Skye.
The prints are thought to be the oldest dinosaur fossils ever found in Scotland.
They come from a time called the Middle Jurassic, about which very little is known.
But the prints suggest dinosaurs, which first appeared 230 million years ago, appear to have been rather civilised and lived peacefully together.
It is the second discovery of dinosaur footprints on Skye, which are difficult to study because of weathering and tidal conditions.
Dr. Steve Brusatte, of Edinburgh University, led the field team. He said of the rare Middle Jurassic find: “The sauropods were more than 49ft long and weighed more than ten tons.
It appears as if these tracks were made in shallow water - so the dinosaurs look like they were probably wading.
The water may have been quite shallow - maybe only a few feet deep or even less.
It's hard to say exactly why these dinosaurs were in the lagoon - but we seem to be finding more and more footprints of lagoon-dwelling dinosaurs these days.”
The dinosaurs lived on a larger island containing Skye when the super-continents were starting to break apart, the Atlantic was a narrow stretch of water and Britain was closer to the equator, with a climate more like Florida.
At that time birds were taking to the skies for the first time, the T. rex had first appeared and dinosaurs were beginning to become colossal in size.
Most of the prints on Skye were made by the 'older cousins' of Tyrannosaurus rex, called theropods, which walked on two legs and stood more than 6.5 feet (2m) tall.
But the largest of the tracks are almost 28 inches (70cm) across and were left by a sauropod.

North Skye and Staffin Beach
An anti-clockwise trip around parts of the northern tip of Isle of Skye. This was on a partly cloudy and very windy Oct 3 2016. It is just broken sections of the drive as the footage saved was incomplete (the cheap dashcam is not 100% reliable!), some bits are speeded up - rest assured I don't drive that fast on frequently narrow and unfamiliar roads!

DINOSAUR MUSEUM IN 'BLACK HOUSE' IN PORTREE SKYE, SCOTLAND
Hi everyone thank you very much for watching the 137million years old Dinosaur and Fossil In this is ‘Black House’ is the traditional old Scottish house 150 years ago, the museum is very unique with everything came from the local people who live there, hope you enjoy it,
Thanks again????????
History of Black House:
The origin of the name blackhouse is of some debate. It could be less than 150 years old and may have been synonymous with inferior. On Lewis, in particular, it seems to have been used to distinguish the older blackhouses from some of the newer white-houses (Scottish Gaelic: taigh-geal [t̪ʰəˈkʲal̪ˠ]; Irish: teach geal, teach bán), with their harled (rendered) stone walls. There may also be some confusion arising from the phonetic similarity between the dubh, meaning black, and tughadh, meaning thatch.
The buildings were generally built with double wall dry-stone walls packed with earth, and were roofed with wooden rafters covered with a thatch of turf with cereal straw or reed. The floor was generally flagstones or packed earth and there was a central hearth for the fire. There was no chimney for the smoke to escape through. Instead the smoke made its way through the roof. This led to the soot blackening of the interior which may also have contributed to the adoption of name blackhouse.
The blackhouse was used to accommodate livestock as well as people. People lived at one end and the animals lived at the other with a partition between them...
Staffin orcas
There were certainly 4, perhaps 6, orcas cruising about off Staffin, Skye. We watched them for the best part of 20 minutes. It's not easy to record them - identifying when and where they'll appear involves a fair amount of guesswork...
There's virtually no sound in this video - it's quiet here!
Jurassic footprints found on Skye
Researchers from the University of Edinburgh have discovered a trackway of more than 100 dinosaur footprints on the Isle of Skye.
The 170-million-year-old tracks were created by sauropods, some of the largest animals ever to have walked on Earth. And the research team, led by Dr Stephen Brusatte, discovered them by chance while they were searching a rocky bay for the bones of ancient reptiles.
