Hello, YouTube! Here is a video of our trip to Fossil Rim. Please enjoy, thanks!
Explore Colorado Dinosaur Ridge
Head just 20 minutes west of Denver and you can walk in the steps of dinosaurs. It really is a trek through time at Dinosaur Ridge, just off Alameda Parkway in Morrison. Dinosaur Ridge is famous for its tracks site. There are over 320 tracks from different types of dinosaurs in a fairly small area. The tracks are easy to see and there’s even one area where you can literally walk in the footprints of dinosaurs. A hundred million years ago, instead of the ridge and foothills that are there now, the area was a flat sandy beach with rivers flowing into the ocean.
At one, about 92 million years ago, everything in Colorado was underwater. There’s proof of that with ripple marks at Dinosaur Ridge and you can also find seashells in the Morrison and Golden areas, among other spots in Colorado.
On the other side of the ridge, which is right across from the 300 million year old Red Rocks, is an area where you can see the evidence of rivers that were like braided rivers in a swamp or bog area that flowed into the ocean. You can see the stream channels, bones in boulders and rocks, and even a cross section view, or sideways view, of dinosaur footprints. The sandstone on the river side of the ridge is finer than the tracks site side.
Just a short drive away and right across from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden is the 1.5 mile Tricertops Trail. On the trail, you can climb in and out of the areas that were clay pits that have been mined. Left of the sandstone, you can see entire ecosystems from plant fossils to even some T-Rex tracks. It’s free to visit the Triceratops Trail. Just make sure you are wearing comfy shoes and clothes for the walk in and out of pits.
At Dinosaur Ridge, shuttle bus tours last 45 minutes. The tour is $4 for ages 4 and up. Entry into the exhibit hall at the visitor center is $1 for ages 4 and up. Children ages 3 and under are free for both.
Summer camps are back this year at Dinosaur Ridge. They are offered several weeks this summer. Cost is $275 for members and $300 for non-members. Yearly family memberships are $40 and individual is $25.
If you want a great hike, then head up on the Dakota Ridge Trail on top of Dinosaur Ridge. It’s about 2.2 miles from the trailhead at Dinosaur Ridge over to the parking lot near I-70. Just watch out for rattlesnakes along the top of the ridge, just like you’ll find hiking in other spots like Green Mountain and even in Red Rocks Park.

Texas Tiny Dinosaurs
Wild Texas: Green Anole (Anolis carolinensis) green anole, American anole, red-throated anole, American chameleon, Carolina anole. Often mistaken for chameleons, the green anole is a tree-dwelling lizard that is native to the southeastern United States and Caribbean islands. Green anoles are also found in warm climates throughout North and South America.
Often seen in parks and residential areas on walls, fences, trees, and low bushes, green anoles reach a maximum length of six to eight inches. Their bodies are slender, with a long, thin tail. Like true chameleons, green anoles have the ability to change color; this ability is limited in anoles, however--coloration is usually green, yellow, brown, gray, or a mixture. Most healthy, non-threatened anoles are bright green in appearance. The male anole has a large pink fan of skin on its neck, called a dewlap, which can be extended for courtship or territorial display.
Active and agile creatures, anoles have specially adapted pads on their feet which permit them to climb, cling, and run on virtually any surface. Another adaptation of the anole is its extremely fragile tail which drops off its body when grabbed, allowing the anole to escape from predators; in time, the anole will regrow a new (although generally shorter) tail. Anoles feed on small insects such as crickets, cockroaches, spiders, moths, and grubs.

Your backyard is perhaps the best place to view wild green anoles. Active during daylight hours, green anoles often sun themselves on walls and branches. Green anoles can also be observed in pet stores where they are sold. Like all lizards, green anoles require special care and a controlled environment if they are to survive in captivity.

New species of enormous 30 metre long dinosaur discovered inside a museum
An enormous new species of dinosaur that could strip entire branches from trees with its ginormous ‘peg-like’ teeth has been discovered by scientists.
Nicknamed Max, the gentle giant was 30 metres long and weighed at least 15 tonnes — making it one of the largest beasts to ever walk the Earth.
Palaeontologists believe Max, who lived in Wyoming about 150 million years ago, used its nine metre-long neck to reach the most succulent leaves.
Officially called Galeamopus pabsti, he strongly resembled a Diplodocus and had the similar signature tail that could be swung like a whip.
He also had a small head and four thick, pillar like legs that supported its massive body, just like its sauropod relatives.
Sauropods are very large four-legged herbivorous — or vegetarian — dinosaurs with a long neck and tail, small head and massive limbs.
Max had actually been part of an exhibition at the Sauriermuseum Aathal Museum in Switzerland for several years, but new analysis by researchers from Italy and Portugal found that it was an entirely new species.
Dr Emanuel Tschopp, of the University of Turin, said the new diplodocid is “represented by material from all body parts but the tail.”
He said: “Diplodocids are among the best known sauropod dinosaurs. Numerous specimens of currently 15 accepted species belonging to ten genera have been reported from the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous of North and South America, Europe, and Africa.
“The highest diversity is known from the Upper Jurassic Morrison Formation of the western United States: a recent review recognised 12 valid, named species, and possibly three additional, yet unnamed ones.”
Diplodocid sauropods are among the most iconic dinosaurs, known for their swooping necks.
Species of this group have also been found in Africa, South America, and Europe, but the richest diversity is found in the US.
More than 15 species of these gigantic animals have been unearthed there, also including the famous Brontosaurus.
The world’s largest dinosaur footprint was recently discovered Down Under — and it’s as big as a man.
