It is very well known for 'Dipsea trail race' -the oldest trail race in America which started in 1905.
Total of 680 stairs in the beginning of this trail.
Mile 5 has scenic view of Pacific ocean and San francisco city.

Muir Woods National Monument is part of California’s Golden Gate National Recreation Area, north of San Francisco. It’s known for its towering old-growth redwood trees. Trails wind among the trees to Cathedral Grove and Bohemian Grove, and along Redwood Creek. The Ben Johnson and Dipsea trails climb a hillside for views of the treetops, the Pacific Ocean and Mount Tamalpais in adjacent Mount Tamalpais State Park.

This is one of the finest Loop trails in the Bay Area of California. It’s well marked, well kept, not too busy, and the variety of ecosystems is unbeatable. You can start at Stinson Beach or the Pan Toll Ranger Station that offers water and restrooms. This is a great way to burn over 3,000 calories and feel like a million bucks doing it.

One of the most scenic trails in the Bay Area. Lush vegetations, old redwood groves, stream with many water falls, wooden bridges. You can walk out to Stinson Beach a mile away from the Steep Ravine - Dipsea junction. From the parking lot heading northeast you can also hike to Muir Woods less than 2 miles away.

This was a trail run that included Miwok Trail, Dipsea Trail, Dias Ridge Trail, Coastal View Trail, Redwood Creek Trail and Heather Cutoff Trail all in the Mount Tamalpais State Park. The summit of the run was Cardiac Hill. The run covered 20 miles, starting and returning to Tennessee Valley Trail head in Mill Valley, CA. There were three big climbs for a total of 3,500 ft elevation gain.
