George Town, Cruise Terminal, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, Caribbean, North America
George Town, Grand Cayman, is the capital of the Cayman Islands, in the British West Indies. The city has a population of 27,704 as of 2010 and is the largest city on Grand Cayman. George Town is the heart of the Cayman Islands financial industry, there are close to 600 Bank and Trust companies in the Cayman Islands. The city is the largest (by population) of all settlements in the British Overseas Territories. The Caymanian government offices are located in George Town. These offices include the Legislative Assembly of the Cayman Islands, the Court Houses and the Government Administration Building. The Government Administration Building houses the offices of the Premier and other members of Cabinet, the Deputy Governor and his staff as well as other elected officials and civil servants. The former Old Courts Building located at the corner of Shedden Road and Harbour Drive is now the National Museum of Grand Cayman. The building was built more than 150 years ago and has served the Caymanian government not only as a court building but as a jail and the island's first official Post Office. George Town's city limits extend from the east at the edge of the South Shore District, north just beyond Owen Roberts International Airport, south to Hog Sty Bay and west to Seven Mile Beach and the West Bay District. George Town's famous Seven Mile Beach is a long crescent of coral-sand beach extending up to the West Bay region of Grand Cayman and is the most popular and populated area for tourists on the island.

Cayman Islands Department of Tourism - Unravel Travel TV
Nestled in the calm, turquoise waters of the western Caribbean, lies the peaceful British Overseas Territory known as the Cayman Islands. Consisting of three islands just 480 miles south of Miami, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman remain our little piece of paradise.
Government
The Cayman Islands highest official is the Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Duncan Taylor, CBE, who is the appointed representative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. He presides over Cabinet, the ruling body of the country. Mr. Taylor succeeded Mr. Stuart Jack, CVO. The Governor's term is four years. The existing constitution of the Cayman Islands, introduced on August 22, 1972, provides for the government of the Cayman Islands as a British Overseas Territory. It established a governing body called the Cabinet, which consists of three officials and five elected members, the latter being selected from the 15 elected representatives of the Legislative Assembly. To see the 15 elected representatives or to get more information visit the Cayman Islands Government website.
Currency
The Cayman Islands has its own currency, first issued in 1972, whose basic unit is the dollar, issued in notes with denominations of CI$100, 50, 25, 10, 5 and 1 and coins valued at 25 cents, 10, 5 and 1 cent. The CI dollar has a fixed exchange rate with the US dollar of CI$1.00 equals US$1.25. Or, the US dollar equals CI $.80. There is no need for visitors to exchange their US dollars into local currency. The US dollar is accepted throughout the islands at a rate of CI 80 cents. However, this can be confusing to visitors: for example, a US$20 note becomes CI$16. Banks do NOT give a better rate of exchange! Major credit cards (with the exception of the Discover Card) and traveller's checks are widely accepted. Canadian dollars, Euro dollars and pounds sterling can be exchanged for CI dollars at local banks. In addition, Automatic Teller Machines accepting VISA and MasterCard with Cirrus affiliation are located at Cayman National Bank and other banks and at Owen Roberts International Airport as well as a few other locations such as the grocery stores.
Geography
The total land mass of the three islands is 100 square miles. Grand Cayman occupies 76 square miles; Cayman Brac, 14 square miles and Little Cayman, 10 square miles. Grand Cayman is approximately 22 miles long and 8 miles at its widest point, reaching a maximum elevation of 79.77 feet in North Side.
Cayman Brac is 14 miles long and 2 miles wide and has the most dramatic topography of the trio. Its majestic Bluff rises west to east along the length of the island to 151.75 above Spot Bay. Many mysterious caves are carved throughout this awe-inspiring natural attraction.
Little Cayman, only 10 miles long and a mile wide, is flat, reaching a maximum elevation of 55.75 ft. Its famous Bloody Bay wall Marine Park has been called one of the world's best dive sites. Inland, the 203 - acre Booby Pond Nature Reserve is a RAMSAR site and nesting ground for the Caribbean's largest population of Red Footed Boobies.

Grand Cayman Tour
A tour of dive and snorkeling spots around Grand Cayman. A wall dive, stingray city, snorkeling, turtles and blow hole. If you love the ocean and beaches then Grand Cayman Island is a must see.
Stingray City Grand Cayman Tour | Cayman Islands
We are the number one Stingray City Grand Cayman tour operator in the Cayman Islands. Our 30-foot center console speed boat puts us in a category above the competition. We also never take more than 12 guests per tour, and sometime less. Other companies will take over 60 guests per excursion, but we ensure with small groups that every guest enjoys the experience, being able to interact with our professional and friendly tour guides.
We also don’t just go to Stingray City, we also go to the Barrier Reef (snorkeling), Starfish Point, Rum Point (restaurant and bar) and the mangrove forest, all in one tour. Other tours and excursions will just go to Stingray City and maybe snorkeling, but we go the extra mile so that you can experience all that the Caymans have to offer. Our video shows all the different stops we go to.
The warm waters at the sandbar are ideal for anyone looking to have a fun day out on the water. The Stingrays are very friendly and our guides will show you how to interact with them in a safe and easy way.
Our boat has lots of space so that you won’t be in a crowded setting. The boat is backed up with twin 250hp Suzuki four stroke outboard engines, meaning that we get to the destinations quick, allowing our guests to have more time at each stop. A lot of companies operate from very slow boats, meaning that the majority of the time is spent getting there, instead of actually being there.
In case you are wondering, Steve Irwin (Crocodile Hunter) was killed by a completely different type of ray, and the stingrays we interact with at the sandbar on our tour are very safe. We have never had any issues before with them, and we intend to keep it that way.
We also provide free round-trip transport for our guests, so if you are a cruise ship passenger or over-night hotel/condo guest, we can pick you up and drop you off if you don’t have your own vehicle. Our excursion departs from the Yacht Club which is near the cruise ship port and Seven Mile beach, which is where the majority of overnight hotel and condo guests stay.
Visit our website today at and let us help you make your trip to see the Stingrays a reality!

Dining - Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands boast over 100 restaurants including fast-food outlets and traditional Caribbean diners as well as contemporary, gourmet and multicultural dining. There is a regular farmers market where you can purchase local produce at a good rate, although its worth noting that agriculture on the Islands is limited due to the iron shore composition and most food is imported. There are also several fully stocked supermarkets that provide most local and imported foods and cater to specific dietary requirements.
Seven Mile Beach | Cayman Islands Sotheby's International Realty | Caribbean
Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman - Moving to the west of George Town, you will travel along the West Bay Road which features the world famous crescent of Seven Mile Beach, a truly spectacular stretch of pure white sand which plays home to some of the finest luxury beach front properties within the Cayman Islands and the Caribbean with enviable ocean views and state-of-the-art amenities.
New construction is limited in this area but the length of Seven Mile Beach is fringed with condominiums which have either been very recently constructed or are well-established. The building code in the Cayman Islands has historically prevented the development of high rise condominium blocks which means that Seven Mile Beach remains a peaceful paradise with some of the least dense beach front real estate offerings in the Caribbean. The variety of property available on Seven Mile Beach however is great starting from an entry point of around US$300k right up to the super luxury residences to be found at The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman, Water's Edge, Caribbean Club and Water Colour's which can run into eight figure sums. Choose from family-friendly properties with lots of excellent lifestyle amenities such as tennis courts, swimming pools and gyms, as well as higher-end homes that incorporate the latest designs, materials and fixtures and fittings into a contemporary and luxurious property. Residences at The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman offer all the luxury lifestyle choices associated with hotel including the spectacular Silver Rain a La Prairie Spa, world class dining at Blue by Eric Ripert and a Nick Bollettieri designed tennis program, the coach behind such tennis greats as Andre Agassi, Monica Seles and Maria Sharapova.
On the east of the West Bay Road, running parallel to Seven Mile Beach, upscale condominiums and homes line the canals that bisect the land, creating local communities all along this stretch of Grand Cayman which overlooks the waterfront playground of the North Sound. The Ritz-Carlton Residences stand proudly on Seven Mile Beach, and the Resort as a whole straddles the entire width of the West Bay Road with the Ritz-Carlton Deckhouses overlooking the canals on the North Sound. On the North Sound side of the road a diverse selection of properties to suit a variety of budgets and a select collection of contemporary, luxury homes, many with their own boat deck, pool and incredible private view of the North Sound. The major waterfront developments with North Sound boat access are, starting south & working north: Camana Bay, Britannia Golf Resort, Snug Harbour, Canal Point, The Ritz-Carlton Deckhouses & The North Sound Club Golf Course, Crystal Harbour including The Grand Caymanian a Ramada Resort, Governor's Harbour, Cayman Islands Yacht Club, Vista del Mar and the newly developed Salt Creek a gated residential waterfront community of luxury homes. #CaymanIslandsSothebysrealty #sothebysrealty #CaymanIslandsrealestate
