ALBEROBELLO / Puglia, Italy (Trulli Houses)
Alberobello is located in the region of Puglia, southeastern Italy. A Unesco World Heritage Site, Alberobello is a small and scenic town mostly famous for its trulli houses with cone-shaped roofs. The town has two main trulli districts - Rione Monti and Aia Piccola. Rione Monti is more touristic and visited area with plenty of small alleys lined with trulli houses that are turned into souvenirs shops. Here is located the Sant'Antonio church. Aia Piccola is less visited by tourists and is more quiet area. Other places worth seeing: the main square - Piazza del Popolo dominated by St.Lucia church, behind which there is a spot for panoramic views of the city, and the Basillica of Saints Damian and Cosma.

See the Beautiful Trulli Houses at Alberobello, Italy Travel Guide
Alberobello in Puglia - Southern Italy is a gorgeous little town that is well worth seeing. It is famous for its trulli houses. A trullo is essentially a white stone hut - totally unique to this region of Italy. The village is a Unesco site where you can see around 1500 perfectly preseved stone huts.
Important to note that the popular district to explore is pretty touristy and most of the huts have been turned into souvenir shops. It can also get crazy once the tour buses arrive.
None-the-less the town is super pretty and well worth 1/2 day of your trip around the Puglia region of Italy.

ALBEROBELLO IN PUGLIA ITALY
The trulli , limestone dwellings found in the southern region of Puglia, are remarkable examples of drywall (mortarless) construction, a prehistoric building technique still in use in this region. The trulli are made of roughly worked limestone boulders collected from neighbouring fields. Characteristically, they feature pyramidal, domed or conical roofs built up of corbelled limestone slabs.

Dream of Italy Season 1: Full Puglia Episode
In the sixth episode of season 1 of Dream of Italy (PBS travel series), we head to the heel of Italy - Puglia. Local Tonino Benincasa gives host Kathy McCabe an introduction to the Baroque city of Lecce with a classic car ride. Lecce is famous for its paper mâché and we see how nativity scene figures are crafted at Cartapesta Claudio Riso. Outside Lecce, in the town of Squinzano, Kathy meets the locals and gets a ride in a tiny Ape car to an olive mill where locals are dancing the pizzica in celebration of the harvest. A local mama teaches Kathy to make orecchiette (pasta). Alberobello is famous for its classic cone-shaped houses (trulli) and we learn the history of them. In seaside Monopoli, Kathy’s friend Antonello Losito introduces her to an old man who makes beautiful model boats. For more information, visit dreamofitaly.com
