When the Chinese want to get married, they come to Tsingtao : there’s nothing cooler than a wedding on the beach or in the bay. Even if it resembles a production line. Tsingtao was originally popular with the Germans, who introduced the city to beer at the beginning of the last century. The beaches here have only recently become accessible to every social class. On the sands, one encounters a surprising cross-section, those in their work clothes and business suits, and others who daringly sport a swimming costume, (although bikinis are rare). Many hesitate to take the plunge, because a lot of young Chinese quite simply can’t swim ! Rubber rings are therefore indispensable, and are carried, or worn around the waist, on the buses going to the beach. Some people are abandoning them, though, as they learn to swim : in 2008 Tsingtao will host the Olympic Games’ water sports events…

Chinese Scientists Identify over 30 New Deep Sea Species
Chinese scientists have found over 30 kinds of new deep sea species in the last two years, according to the chief scientist from China Ocean Mineral Resources Research and Development Association (COMRA).
The COMRA also released a series of videos showing activities of rarely-seen deep sea creatures in the seamounts during an international conference hosted by the association and International Seabed Authority in Qingdao City of east China's Shandong Province, scheduled between Monday and Tuesday.

2.5 million barrels of oil arrive in Qingdao every day
Enormous oil tankers are experiencing long tailbacks outside the eastern port of Qingdao, as they wait in line to offload their cargo. China has been importing record quantities of crude oil in the first few months of 2016, amid low global prices. The port has been working at full capacity for months, with authorities saying the congestion shows no sign of easing off until June.

East Asia is famous worldwide for its street food, and in I’ve been to many lovely markets. The best one was in Beijing, but also street food market boasted so many delicacies I couldn’t restrain from shamelessly tucking into all of them. OK, maybe not all, but definitely most of them…
, in ’s eastern Shandong province, is a port city of skyscrapers, parks and beaches bordering the Yellow Sea. It's known for its beer, a legacy of the German occupation (1898-1914). The Tsingtao Beer Museum celebrates the namesake brewery, founded here by Germans in 1903, and the International Beer Festival is major event. There's also German-style architecture in the old city center.
