An Exmoor Coastal Safari Special
Description
Winsford and Exmoor, Somerset (1924)
Exmoor hunt and meet at Winsford.
This extract comes from Claude Friese-Greene's 'The Open Road' - originally filmed in 1925/6 and now re-edited and digitally restored by the BFI National Archive. Britain seen in colour for the first time was heralded as a great technical advance for the cinema audience - now we can view a much improved image, but one which still stays true to the principles of the colour process.
The rather haphazard journey from Land's End to John O'Groats creates a series of moving picture postcards. Look out for shots containing the component colours - red and blue-green - such as when a little girl in a red coat and hat walks among peacocks in the grounds of a castle, and three girls with red curly hair pose by the sea at Torquay.
The car is a Vauxhall D-type - considered a sporty model at the time. A long-distance journey by car was a relatively new concept, with none of the amenities en route now taken for granted. The visit to a petrol station shows smoking on the forecourt: no health and safety issues back then! The travelogue ends with a series of recognisable London landmarks. Much remains the same - one major exception being the volume of traffic on the roads. (Jan Faull)

The Series III Crane Land Rover Part 1
I had to make a clip of Peters special Series Land-Rover fitted with a crane.

This gourp of 10 from England came with Lynn Reynolds, the director of the Exmoor Zoo in Devon. They tour for 14 days with Walk With Jith's Prasanjith Caldera. The tour was a nice blend of culture, wildlife, bird watching and relaxation in exiting places in Sri Lanka. The Story of America's Wild Horses and Burros
Released May 2012 - Produced by the Bureau of Land Management, this video helps us better understand how the BLM came to manage federally protected wild horses and burros on millions of acres of public lands across the West. Current and former BLM employees, historians, horse advocates, and others tell their parts of this continuing story.
From the DVD Cover:
The public lands of the Western United States are diverse, ruggedly beautiful, and majestic - as are the horses and burros that live there. These animals are born with the colors of the land upon them. The browns, blacks, reds, blues, dapple grays, and snowy whites all reflect nature's paint brush.
Today, America's wild horses and burros are found in 10 western states. It is the BLM's responsibility to preserve and protect healthy herds of wild free-roaming horses and burros as components of the public lands.
The Wild Horse Annie Act of 1959 and the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971 gave wild horses and burros a legal right to live on public lands without harassment. The Adopt-A-Horse or Burro Program was initiated in 1973 to meet the challenges of balancing the health of public lands with the health of the wild horses and burros.

(HD) A drive across Exmoor. Bank Holiday Monday May 6th, 2013
))))))))))))))) Watch in 1080 Full Screen.(((((((((((((((((((((( Another 'Thru the Windscreen ' production. Unusually for a Bank Holiday Monday in May, we find wall to wall sunshine in our area. We decide to take a trip in The Peugeot 307CC with the roof down as it was our first opportunity since we bought it in January, hence the road noise. The first clip is driving down into Exford in the heart of Exmoor. The main part is the drive across what i have always called 'The Prairie' from outside Simonsbath to Watersmeet near Lynmouth on the B3223. We pass Exe Plain and Brendon common along this route. The last few clips are taken by chance as we popped-in to Morissons at Minehead for some supplies. Footage is of D2133 the class 03 Minehead Shunter moving the GWR Autocoach 178 in Minehead Station. We arrive at a time when we were in between train arrivals etc.so this was the only action available. .
Filmed on a Panasonic HC X800.
