Blackfin Tuna Fish Caught in Orange Beach, Alabama
Today's deep-sea fishing, big game trolling fishing trip in Orange Beach, Alabama while fishing on Distraction Charter Boat. We caught this nice Blackfin Tuna while trolling back to the gulf shores. We were 16 miles out and pulling bait at 13 knots when this fish hit. We also caught a Wahoo and hooked a White Marlin for about 15 minutes until he spit the hook.
Using A Seaqualizer® to Release Reef Fish in Orange Beach, Alabama
A seaqualizer® cost about $60 and operates pneumatically by hooking on to a reef fishes lips and descending them back down to the depth they were caught. At depth, it operates by expanding it's jaws and releasing a reef fish at a predetermined depth. We have our set at 50' but settings allow for up to 150' of depth to be used. We use the descender with a designated shorter than normal fishing rod with 130 lb high visibility test line. We also add 3 feet of leader below the seaqualizer and tie it to a 3 lb lead that helps take the floating fish down to depths where it can safely be released. So far, this tool has been very helpful in ensuring reef fish survive being caught and then released. The venting tool is still a good option, but this is a less invasive way to let them go. Orange Beach Fishing Charters® along with Distraction Charters, endorses the use of this device and are doing our part to ensure released fish survive.

Wanted to take a buddy of mine out to work on some King and Cobia offshore- but the questionable weather and slightly choppy seas kept us closer to shore in Orange Beach, AL. Here is a video clip of his daughter, Sydney, fighting a bluefish in the pass. This was really their first time saltwater fishing. We didn't put any monsters on the boat, but they had fun anyway!
Hope ya'll enjoyed the fresh fish Glen!
On the other end, Braxton was fishing on the Gulf State Pier, Gulf Shores, AL. He managed to land a 15 lb King Mackerel and Bonito. He did better than we did! We'll do better next time!!

Moraine State Park Osprey Cam
Watch as osprey nest along the glistening shoreline of Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park. This area has one of the most significant clusters of osprey nests in the Pennsylvania.
The osprey, also commonly known as a “fish hawk”, stalks its prey by hovering above the water then diving feet first to snag its prey. Ospreys fit in well on impoundments with good fish populations and artificial structures where they can build their bulky stick nests.
In an effort to help this recovered species, The Moraine Preservation Fund established an Osprey Reintroduction Program in June of 1993. It was a huge success and resulted in six fledglings raised from several nesting platforms throughout the park. This park was an important site in the state's osprey reintroduction program and they continue to prosper here.

MPF is doing wonderful things for the park and continues to help the osprey population grow.

Aerial Video of Perdido Dunes Tower Location
Perdido Dunes Tower is the latest pre-construction condo planned for Alabama's Gulf Coast and will sit near Perdido Pass in Orange Beach. The condo will be a low-density development with only 20 individual units and all will directly face the Gulf of Mexico. The large wraparound balconies will help guests and owners to enjoy some of the best views Orange Beach has to offer. This is mainly due to the proximity to Perdido Pass - the main entrance to the Gulf of Mexico for all boats in the area. Some of the best shore-fishing on the Alabama Gulf Coast is from the rock jetties that line Perdido Pass. Charter boats and private boats alike all use this pass to enter the gulf. In the busy months, boats constantly flow in and out of this area commonly known as Alabama Point While the pass is not the tip of the state, it's close and the FloraBama is said to actually sit on the actual state line, but locals and many tourists know that the world-famous lounge / beach bar is actually in Florida. This is counter-intuitive because of the large island that runs parallel to the beach in this area. Ono Island's majority of land sits in Florida, but has an Alabama address - maybe it has something to do with the only entrance to the island being in Alabama, but wither way, Perdido Dunes Tower will be in the middle of it all and feature some breathtaking views of the surrounding area. This will especially ring true during the Fourth of July when the annual fireworks show will happen directly in front of the condos in Perdido Dunes Tower.
Amenities for the new project will include a large common room atop the condominium that guests and owners can use for a variety of things, like parties, weddings and / or rehearsals, meetings and other things and the views are sure to be a distraction. The floor plans for the proposed condominium will all be four bedroom, direct gulf front appointments at approximately 1,920 square feet and designs account for only two units per floor making each condo a corner unit - the most sought after of all locations. One of the more noticeable features from the start will be the setback line for Perdido Dune Tower. The setback line is the measure of how close the condo will sit to the actual water. Obviously this is something of a hot topic and no condo wants another condo to be in front, but the plans for the tower will allow it to sit noticeably closer to the Gulf of Mexico which allows for better views up and down the beach to the East and West. The aerial video was shot from the actual spot of the balconies and shows the future views that owners will enjoy.
Other amenities will include a hot tub, beach walkover, exercise facility, sauna, storage room for each condo and the landscaping for Perdido Dunes Tower will feature a tropical theme and each condo will have designated parking will additional guest parking available. The surrounding area features plenty of niche shopping outlets and two of the area's most popular marinas in San Roc Cay which is directly across the street and Zeke's Marina - home to a large charter fishing operation. Numerous restaurants in this area, like Cobalts, Louisianna Lagniappe and others are sure to provide guests and owners plenty of options for dining out and on-site BBQ areas will help when a night at the condo is on the list of things to do. (For all local menus in one place, check out our helpful info - From Perdido Dunes Tower, the FloraBama is a mere 5 minutes, if that, while the Wharf and Amphitheater is approximately 10 minutes away and downtown Gulf Shores and Gulf Place is between 5 and 10 minutes. The closest airports belong to Mobile, AL and Pensacola, FL with each sitting approximately one-to-one and a half hours from the tower.
