Dangerous Kubu Wreck Dive - Bali Indonesia
The wreck was deliberately sunk in 2012, last used by the Indonesian Coast Guard.
The wreck lies about 200m east of the access road to the main Kubu Reef. The friendly locals will carry your gear down to the beach to the entry point.
The wreck is pointed to towards shore and the bow sprint is in about 20m of water and the deck at the stern is in 30m, the bottom of the rudder on the sea floor is 35m+. Advanced divers only.
The video is made up of 2 separate dives on the same day, both morning and afternoon had little current, however much darker in the afternoon.
Once you have explored the wreck its a gentle ascent on the sea floor in a westerly direction, so you will then surface next to the access road. On the ascent you will see an array of tropical fish, moray eels and sharks (see Diving Kubu for sharks, moray eels;

Diving Kubu Reef - Bali Indonesia
Diving Bali August 2015 - easy dive, water was not so clear following some recent big swells, but once away from the shore and a bit deeper the visibility gets better. The surprise is the moray eel swimming across the bottom, and lots of Nudie-branches.
Recommend Tulamben/Amed area of Bali; easy diving and lots of food and accommodation options.

Pebble And Fins Dive Tulamben And Kubu in Bali
PADI Scholarship Indonesia 2011
A ground breaking intense PADI Scuba Diving internship has begun in Bali that will take eight young Indonesians from Open Water Divers to Master Scuba Diver Trainers. The programme is planned to run over a 10 month period and includes 20 diver specialty and instructor level courses, work experience in dive centres across Indonesia, equipment maintenance and repair and dive centre management. The innovative program is the first of its kind and was conceived by Minni Vangsgaard, PADI Platinum Course Director and owner of Crystal Divers Bali. Scuba diving is a crucial element of Indonesia's tourism product; over 4000 divers were certified last year in Bali alone. The programme is aimed at giving the best possible chance to local Indonesians in becoming dive professionals and sustaining the ever growing Indonesian dive industry with world class, professionally trained, environmentally active instructors.
PADI Asia Pacific are strongly behind the programme and have kindly contributed all course materials and waived the administrative fees. VIP Henrik Nimb, PADI Asia Pacific's Vice President of Marketing/Education and Business Development personally opened the internship programme on 20 April 2011. The opening was also attended by members of the Indonesian Government's Tourism Department; Abi Carnadie, PADI Regional Manager for Indonesia and East Timor; and Divemasters Bali who are sponsoring the programme along with Aqua Lung who together have equipped all interns with brand new sets of Aqua Lung dive equipment. The programme relies soley on volunteers and contributions, without these great individuals this programme would not be possible. All Crystal Divers Instructors have voluntary dedicated their time to teach the interns 6 days a week upto 8-10 hours per day. The programme also relies heavily on external volunteers who kindly take their time out to teach, such as senior members of PADI, DAN and Project AWARE staff.
The interns come from all corners of Indonesia; Bali, Lombok, Java and Sulawesi.
Hairi Busyairi, age 20, from Gili Trawangan, Lombok I Gede Eri Sanjaya, Eric age 26, from Kubu, Bali I Made Sade Astawa, age 19, from Mataram, Lombok Imam Wahyudi, age 25, from Banuwangi, Java Inyoman Budiasa, age 25, from Tulamben, Bali Nico Novan, age 22, from Malang, Java Vintty Marcelly Koloay, age 23, from Sulawesi, Utara Wulandari Karunia Septiani, Wulan age 26, from Jakarta, Java
These outstanding individuals are all aware of the tremendous impact this internship will make on their lives. It has allowed these enthusiastic, motivated Indonesians a once in a life time opportunity to live the dream they have always wanted but could never afford. All of them express a deep concern for the protection of the ocean and its inhabitants. Vintty wants to open an eco-resort near her hometown.
I want to teach diving to many people in the world, so they can see how beautiful the underwater world is, so they will love the sea and diving also. With it they will also under- stand how important it is to preserve marine nature, keep it sustainable so that we and future generations can continue to enjoy it.
Inyoman wants to teach and share knowledge about diving & how to protect the marine life and the ocean—to help get more people to visit Indonesia. Wulan also wants to open her own dive center and thinks she might like to be a PADI Course Director or perhaps work at PADI headquarters someday.
I will teach my students not only about diving but also about protecting the underwater life; many people come to Indonesia and are eager to learn about diving; increasing the number of tourists can help my country. Nico summed it up best: nothing is impossible. Monthly donations are received from supportive individuals, which allows the interns to cover their living expenses and focus on learning rather than working to support their basic needs. It costs approximately US$100 per intern for housing and food for one month. The interns still need small diving accessories such as dive computers, whistles, compasses and dive lights so any donation will be most appreciated and put to good use. Anyone wishing to contribute to this worthy cause should contact Minni at Crystal Divers (email: info@crystal-divers.com). Know that your gift will be instrumental in the development of the Indonesian dive industry.

Diving Tulamben (Bali) Indonesia (HD)
Our first day of diving starts with a 2½ hour road trip to the small fishing village of Tulamben, on the northeast coast of the main island.
Dive 1 - USAT Liberty:
Originally launched on 19 June 1918 as the USS Liberty, this vessel was assigned to the US Army, just prior to Americas entry into World War II, as an Army Transportation Services vessel (USAT).
On 11 January 1942, while en route from Australia to the Philippines with a cargo of railway parts and rubber, she fell victim to the Japanese submarine I-166. Heavily damaged, the transport was towed by the US destroyer Paul Jones and the Dutch destroyer Van Ghent, towards Singaraja, on the north coast of Bali. Unfortunately, however, the crippled transport was taking too much water to complete the transit, so she was beached at Tulamben to salvage the cargo and fittings.
What remained of the Liberty languished at Tulamben for another twenty one years, until tremors from the 1963 eruption of nearby Mt. Agung caused the vessel to slip off the shore to her current position on a sand slope. During this process, the hull broke in two and she now lies a short 30 m (100 ft) swim from the beach, parallel to the shore, with her deck side facing the open sea.
The wreck is the most visited diving site of Bali, at a perfect depth for all experience levels, ranging from 9m (29 ft), down to the bow, which lies at around 29 m (95 ft). There are a couple of very open swimthroughs, but be aware that the aging structure is unstable and prone to collapse. Corals and anemones cover the wreck, and marine biologists estimate that about 400 different species of reef fish call the Liberty home.
Dive 2 The Drop Off:
A short walk to the west of the Liberty is a section of steep wall simply known as The Drop Off. This site is home to a collection of giant Gorgonian fans and Barrel sponges, clinging to a wall that carries all the way down to 70m (230 ft).

Diving in Tulamben, Bali, Indonesia
Diving at the USS Liberty Wreck in Tulamben, Bali Indonesia. The wreck is covered with beautiful soft corals, sponges, anemones and gorgonians. Fish are abundant and used to people: they get really close here, which is an excellent opportunity for photographs and video! Thanks to my buddy Michael, who shot the video!
