THINGS TO DO IN PORTUGAL, SAGRES | Diving | Surfing| Kayaking
Here we go again! One wonderful week in Portugal where I visited my friend. All this time I stayed in a beautiful surfer town called Sagres. Most of my days I spent trying to learn surfing. Now I know that it's much harder then it looks. Apart from crushing my bones on a surfing board I also experienced wonderful moments diving in ocean and kayaking among stunning rock formations.
If you enjoyed the video make sure to give it huge like!

Diving in the Mediterranean Sea: Sagres, Portugal
In Summer 2011, Oceana's Ranger embarked upon an expedition in the Mediterranean and Eastern Atlantic to explore seamounts and sea canyons. These unique ocean habitats are generally teeming with marine life, but are relatively unexplored due to their depth and complex terrain.
This video was filmed during a dive near Sagres, Portugal on July 1st, 2011. A variety of fish, starfish, corals, a slug, and an octopus all make appearances.
Visit to learn more about the species featured here and other fascinating marine life.

The nautical archaeologists exploring the bay of the Martinhal Resort in Sagres, Portugal
The nautical archaeologists from INA from the US and Portugal exploring the bay of the Martinhal Resort in Sagres, Portugal. We’ve all watched Indiana Jones movies where Indy is seen overseeing archaeological digs in the desert or in some other piece of land somewhere. However, have you ever wondered how archaeologists uncover the history in the ocean? Maritime history is a very important part of many countries’ cultural heritage and there is no country in the world where the seafaring history so largely defined the heritage of the country than in Portugal. Portugal’s “Age of Discoveries” is peppered not just with success stories of the discovery of sea routes but also with the real everyday stories of adventure, risk-taking, espionage, intrigue, power plays, pirates, shipwrecks, ditched cargo, smuggling and even stories where other countries battled for naval supremacy not far from the shores of Sagres. Admiral Nelson’s fleet had one of its largest victories against the Spanish Armada off the Cape of St. Vincent for example. This video details what nautical archaelogists do and how they go about structuring a “dig” or a survey underwater on the seabed. Watch real archaeologists George Schwarz and Tiago Freire talk about one of their surveys looking for a Spanish Patacho which reveals lots of other historical treasures underwater. Please also watch one of our other history videos on this channel to learn more about the history of the area.
