EXPLORING VIETNAM: HOA LU, MUA CAVE, TAM COC (NINH BINH) - DAY TRIP 2019
???? Continuing the series EXPLORING VIETNAM, this time i choose to travel HOA LU, MUA CAVE and TAM COC (boat trip) in Ninh Binh province. It has many great other tourist attractions such as Trang An, Bai Dinh pagoda, ... but maybe I will travel next time.
???? Hoa Lu was the ancient capital of Vietnam in the past. There has many places to worship the King.
???? Mua Cave (Dancing cave) is really great and has amazing view. I have to climb up 1000 steps in total, therefore visiting here in winter is a good choice.
???? Boat trip to Tam Coc (it means 3 caves) is also a new experience to me. The panorama view, the weather, people is nice.
???? Ninh Binh is a recomendation place that you should visit when reaching Hanoi.

The last Queen Mother's residence, Hue, Vietnam
Few travellers to Vietnam's former capital Hue, visit the home of the country's last Queen Mother - Tu Cung. It's one of then few places in the city that evokes the human story of the Nguyen Dynasty.
The popular and biggest Pagoda in Vietnam Must visit in life time
The Perfume Pagoda, known locally as Chua Huong or ‘inner temple’, is at the centre of a very revered and sacred site featuring a maze of mainly Buddhist temples built into the limestone cliffs of Huong Tich. At the heart of this complex lies the Perfume Temple or Perfume Pagoda in the Huong Tich Cave. It is believed that the first temple was built here in the 15th century, although legend declares that the site was actually discovered over 2,000 years ago by a Buddhist monk who was meditating nearby. The mountain foothills are an area of great natural and spiritual beauty filled with streams, tropical plants and temples. There are many pagodas to visit, each offering a different shrine, most of which are Buddhist although one or two are animist. The Perfume Pagoda attracts pilgrims and tourists seeking good luck from the stalagmites and stalactites inside the cave which have been named according to the individual blessing they can bestow. Dun Tien offers prosperity and Nui Co offers the chance of giving birth to a girl whilst Dun Gao translates as a ‘rice stack’ to those hoping for a bountiful harvest.Thank you for visiting my channel.

Traveling NINH BINH - North Vietnam Adventures Today
Traveling North Vietnam can be an intimidating thing to some, especially to all the American Viet kieus, but I highly recommend visiting neighboring cities from Hanoi, such as Ninh Binh.
To get to Ninh Binh from Hanoi, just go to the Hanoi Bus Station and take a bus south to Ninh Binh, which is about three hours or so away. Then you can find a taxi and go to your hotel, which Ninh Binh is full of now. This is my third return trip to Ninh Binh and it still has a lot of tourist places of interests I haven't been able to see. In fact, this city is one of my favorites in all of North Vietnam. The scenery, the food, the landscape, and the experiences are plentiful here. You can enjoy spectacular limestone mountains at Tam Coc, sample some mountain goat meat, visit the Hang Mua, numerous caves, temples, ancient capital emperor homes, stone churches, and so much more from this special city that is definitely worth a visit.
The goat meat restaurant is located across from the Ninh Binh Citadel or emperor's compound.

Best Vietnam Travel - NORTH VIETNAM's STUNNING CHURCHES of Nam Dinh
I've always wanted to see the churches of Nam Dinh. In the past heading towards Ninh Binh on the road, the familiar towers and arches of massive gothic style French influenced churches would peak from beyond the horizon, sparking my curiosity. Later on, I saw many pictures of the online. So I knew that one day I had to go see them for myself. And it happened.
The Hanoi Bus Station has quite a few buses in Nam Dinh's direction. In fact, every 15 to 30 minutes or so. I recommend going to a ticket office and buying a ticket first, but be warned that these mini buses still might take their time leaving to pick up more passengers along the way. Remember that. And the buses can be quite hot too.
About 2 and a half hours later I made it to Nam Dinh, got into a cab and checked into my hotel. I rested for about an hour because I was completely exhausted from the early morning flight and the time on the bus. I tried to rent a car and driver with two rental places and they were all either busy or gave some outrageous number. So I contacted the same taxi guy that dropped me off. Then I realized that all of the churches were in the rural province of Nam Dinh and not in the city. This was a shocker because I was planning to see at least ten. In the back of my mind, I kept thinking that they were next to each other, similarly to how Ho Nai in Bien Hoa's mega churches are. I was more than wrong.
All the major churches are far apart from each other. You can ride a motorbike for sure, but it'll take you all day. I only had about 4 hours or so before sunset. So because I didn't know for sure where I was going and the driver wasn't an expert on the churches, we just opted to use the meter instead, which at the end of it was 1.8 million Dong. The first few churches weren't that far from each other, but they weren't on the main road. They are all tucked in little communities off of the side. The last one called Hai Ly or the Ruined Church as the locals call it was quite a ways away from all the other churches.
I was disappointed that I couldn't see more churches. I was also disappointed that pictures made them look more grand and beautiful. But that's photoshop for you. There was also the fact that many of the churches were given a new coat of paint. You see, that's the problem and the double edged sword. These are active churches that people use. So naturally, they have to restore them and improve them. And a new fresh coat of paint is a part of that. Though, I personally would just have left it alone. But that's not the local mindset.
So are the churches still worth checking out? Yes. Give yourself from morning to evening to properly explore them. Some of them are stunning. Their grand size made it impossible to film them completely. The people in the churches were so nice. From my experiences of traveling, church volunteers and visitors have always been nicer to me than temple people. Many of the church construction workers worked for free in the blazing sun. Some of them even invited me to drink some tea with them. They were proud to show off their work, and rightfully so. These churches were beautiful.
The night concluded with a meal of roasted and boiled ducks. The restaurant where I got the food from didn't have any tables left and it was just too loud and dark to make a proper video, so I bought the food back to my hotel restaurant instead. Despite being a draining day, I slept like a baby on the hard rock of a bed and enjoyed my time running around Nam Dinh a lot.
If you're in Ninh Binh. There is absolutely no reason to not stop by Nam Dinh for a day, especially if you believe in Jesus or if you can appreciate Gothic architecture. Nam Dinh is only 40 minutes or so from Ninh Binh after all.

Hanoi, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Vietnam 28.12.2017
Tran Quoc Pagoda is one of the most ancient Buddhist temple in Vietnam and the oldest in capital city Hanoi. Almost 1500 years old, the pagoda was constructed by King Ly Nam De, around the year 545. It has stunning scenery as it is located in a beautiful setting of water, greenery and cool atmosphere on a small island in the east of the largest lake of Hanoi, i.e. West Lake. It has great historical and architectural value. It has changed names and places with the passage of time but its importance, sacredness and magnificence has always been on the increase. The Pagoda consists of three sections namely Tiền Đường (the front house), an incense burning house, and Thượng Điện (the upper house). There is a museum of antiques and ancient relics and statues of Buddha within the pagoda. The most attractive construction in the pagoda for foreign tourists is an 11 floor stupa called Bảo Tháp (Precious Stupa) which is 15 meters high. It was built in 1998.
Near the entrance to the pagoda, a Bodhi tree is planted which is a branch of the original tree in Budh Gaya, India under which Gautam Buddha sat and received enlightenment. This branch was gifted by India in 1959. While many temples and Pagoda in Hanoi have an entrance fee, this pagoda has free entry.

BUULONG PAGODA - A beautiful Buddhist temple - VietNam | Chùa Bửu Long
Buu Long Pagoda – A beautiful Buddhist temple hidden away in Ho Chi Minh City
This pagoda is in District 9 in the far east of the city. There is no convenient direct public transport from District 1, and it’s still a rural district in places. A visit to Buu Long will give you a glimpse of another side of Saigon.
The pagoda is similar in style to what you see in Thailand and Myanmar. Buddhist temples in Vietnam tend to more East Asian in style with multiple stories. The temple practices the Theraveda branch of Buddhism like in Thailand.
The most popular way to get here is by private bike. The route via the Hanoi Highway is the quickest, though it’s a big road so it’s noisy and stressful to ride on. If you aren’t in a hurry then taking the back roads through District 2 and 9 is an illuminating insight into a modernising city. Here you will see newly-planned cities rising amidst rice fields and fish farms.
