Tombstone AZ - Interview with Doc Holliday
As Arizona residents we at times take for granted what Southern Arizona has to offer in the way of entertainment and recreation. We are a young State but have a lot of history to share. One of the must see places to take visitors to is The Town to Tough to Die. Yes, Tombstone, Arizona. It's close to Tucson and a great place to take your friends. They might comment that it's touristy, but they will always talk about it and have their friends visit it too. For more information visit Tombstone's information website at Tombstoneweb.com
The Tombstone Grand Hotel, Tombstone ,AZ.
The inspiration for The Tombstone Grand Hotel comes from the original Grand Hotel whichin its prime housed some of Tombstone's most famous residents including Wyatt and Virgil Earp, Doc Holliday, and the Clanton Gang. Unfortunately, the Grand did not survive the devastating fire in May of 1882 and was rebuilt as Big Nose Kate's Saloon.Whenthe Grand Hotel first opened its doors in September of 1880, it was declared one of the finest hotels in the state complete with luxurious furnishings, beautiful artand affable staff. As we set out to create a unique boutique experience in the legendary town of Tombstonewe looked to preserve some of the elements that made the Grand Hotel so special. We too pride ourselves in the quality of our establishment and our dedicated staff. Our commitment to the comfort and happiness of our guests manifests itself as White Hat Service.
WONDERING ABOUT THE BIRD?
Some of the best birding in the United States happens here in Cochise County. Approximately 400 species of birds can be found in the area year roundwith an additional 250 species that use the San Pedro River during migration in the spring and fall.
Sitting atop The Tombstone Grand Hotel logo is a cactus wren, the state bird of Arizona and resident trouble maker. The Cactus Wren's gregarious personality and distinct features make it fairly easy to spot. Be on the lookout for a vocal bird with abrown head, white eye stripe and spotted tail feathers.
Cactus Wrens are also notorious for getting into mischief. Being curious birds, it is not uncommon for them to be found flying about in automobiles where the owner has left a window open.
While staying with us please remember to close your windows!
The Bird Cage Theatre Tour
As it was in the 1880's, so it is today. The Bird Cage Theatre is the most authentic old west building in the state of Arizona. After surviving both fires that burned Tombstone to the ground, the building & it's contents are intact. Boasting artifacts such as: the faro table where Doc Holliday played & dealt Faro along with The Black Beauty; The hearse that carried over 90% of those buried at the Boothill Cemetery- including those killed at the street fight in Tombstone (Well known as the Gunfight at the OK Corral), among many others.

Tombstone, Arizona! The town that’s too tough to die… That’s right folks! This time we pack up Betsy and head down south to one of the most violent towns the West had ever seen! Lots of restrictions and can be hard to do a Tombstone Travel Vlog. We check out sites like The O.K. Corral, Birdcage Theater, Big Nose Kates Saloon. And ofcourse we stay in our trusty RV Betsy that was having some issues that we discovered the first night. The RV Resort was not bad. Simple, but you are walking distance from pretty much everything.

My Liver MUST Die in Tombstone, Arizona!
While I haven't been to Tombstone, Arizona in about 30 years, it is always worth killing an afternoon walking around this historic town and the O.K. Corral. I particularly enjoy the old style saloons in these types of historic towns, so I cannot resist some libations! And places like Big Nose Kate's Saloon are right up my alley!
The liver is evil and it must die! lol.
Tombstone is a historic city in Cochise County, Arizona, United States, founded in 1879, by Ed Schieffelin in what was then Pima County, Arizona Territory. It was one of the last wide-open frontier boomtowns in the American Old West. The town prospered from about 1877 to 1890, during which time the town's mines produced US$40 to $85 million in silver bullion, the largest productive silver district in Arizona. Its population grew from 100 to around 14,000 in less than seven years. It is best known as the site of the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and now draws most of its revenue from tourism.

Doc Holliday vs Johnny Ringo from Tombstone.
You can buy Tombstone here.
Curly Bill: [takes a bill with Wyatt's signature from a customer and throws it on the faro table] Wyatt Earp, huh? I heard of you.
Ike Clanton: Listen, Mr. Kansas Law Dog. Law don't go around here. Savvy?
Wyatt Earp: I'm retired.
Curly Bill: Good. That's real good.
Ike Clanton: Yeah, that's good, Mr. Law Dog, 'cause law don't go around here.
Wyatt Earp: I heard you the first time.
[flips a card]
Wyatt Earp: Winner to the King, five hundred dollars.
Curly Bill: Shut up, Ike.
Johnny Ringo: [Ringo steps up to Doc] And you must be Doc Holliday.
Doc Holliday: That's the rumor.
Johnny Ringo: You retired too?
Doc Holliday: Not me. I'm in my prime.
Johnny Ringo: Yeah, you look it.
Doc Holliday: And you must be Ringo. Look, darling, Johnny Ringo. The deadliest pistoleer since Wild Bill, they say. What do you think, darling? Should I hate him?
Kate: You don't even know him.
Doc Holliday: Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.
Wyatt Earp: [to Ringo] He's drunk.
Doc Holliday: In vino veritas.
[In wine is truth meaning: When I'm drinking, I speak my mind]
Johnny Ringo: Age quod agis.
[Do what you do meaning: Do what you do best]
Doc Holliday: Credat Judaeus apella, non ego.
[The Jew Apella may believe it, not I meaning: I don't believe drinking is what I do best.]
Johnny Ringo: [pats his gun] Eventus stultorum magister.
[Events are the teachers of fools meaning: Fools have to learn by experience]
Doc Holliday: [gives a Cheshire cat smile] In pace requiescat.
[Rest in peace meaning: It's your funeral!]
Tombstone Marshal Fred White: Come on boys. We don't want any trouble in here. Not in any language.
Doc Holliday: Evidently Mr. Ringo's an educated man. Now I really hate him.
Me at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, AZ
Me at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona on October 7, 2014, site of the most historic gunfight (Oct. 26, 1881) in the Old West. The shootout is said to have lasted only 30 seconds... Between lawmen Wyatt Earp, his brothers, and Doc Holliday on one side, and outlaws Tom Mclaury, Frank Mclaury, and Ike Clanton on the other. It was surreal walking on the same ground as the legendary Wyatt Earp, and seeing the once bustling silver-mining town that inspired my favorite western movie Tombstone. ...Just a few places I've been.
Finding Tombstone: True stories from miners, Apache, and cowboys. Arizona Territory 1870's
Shot and filmed on location by Bradley Boyer, great grandson of Oliver Boyer, (aka Jack Friday) finds his family past through 10 years of research, history, and word-of-mouth stories which still exist in Tombstone today. Shot on location Spring 2013- Present, this true tale will captivate your heart. Before Wyatt Earp, Earp's brothers, and Doc Holliday, there was 300 miles of underground workings in dangerous conditions. Nearly 1000 miners getting paid well, a Silver Boom in the bust of the Apache Wars, you'll learn about the struggles of Cochise, the Chiricahua Apache, Geronimo, fighting the U.S. Cavalry, with bandits, outlaws and cowboys all running the same Territory in a little known area called Goose Flats. The makings of a power keg, that once Silver was discovered here, all hell broke loose, and there was more to life in true Wild West than drunk cowboys shooting each other. These are personal accounts from the men who live the life of the 1880's every day. A big thanks to friends, Family, and local Tombstone folks who know and love this history.
