Dodengang (Trench of Death), Diksmuide, Belgium
My visit to the Dodengang (Trench of Death) in a city called Diksmuide. It was cold and windy so please mind the noises in the background. Oh and excuse the talking
-_-;
It was very moving there

Tours of WW1: Belgian Trench of Death
This kilometer long network of revetments, saps and dug-outs was one of the most dangerous Belgian positions on the Western Front, situated just 50 meters from a German bunker. As a result, the trench was subjected to almost constant fire from the Germans.

Trench of Death - Diksmuide
On our Dambusters Tour in July 2013 we visited Diksmuide to see the Trench of Death, part of the Belgian section of the western front.
Dodengang (Trench of Death) in Diksmuide, Belgium
Take a high definition tour through the Dodengang (Trench of Death). The Trench of Death at Dixmude is the last remnant of the Belgian First World War trench system. In 2014 the attached interpretation centre was thoroughly refurbished. The history of the infamous Trench of Death is recalled through fifteen interactive applications, pictures, film footage and over one hundred original objects. The visitor is confronted with both life and death, and some personal stories really get under one’s skin. A gigantic aerial picture taken in 1916 makes it possible to compare past and present-day landscapes.
Through the Trench of Death
To travel through the Dodengang or Trench of Death near the city of Diksmuide is to travel back in time. The Trench was one of the first of WW1 and it was there the Belgians stopped the German push to the sea.

The Trench of Death (De Dodengang) + The Tyne Cot Cemetery????????
It's my honor to visit those World War I monuments that are preserved for future generations not to forget the cruelties of war.
Before I can only read about World War 1 in the history books. But it is a completely different experience to feel the landscape and to walk in the trenches at the very location where it all happened.
And now I can say that I am really proud of all the soldiers who are fighting for their country and never giving up to claim the victory.
The several graveyards in the region can testify that the offers were immense.
The Tyne Cot Cemetery in Passendale, Belgium, is the largest Commonwealth cemetery in the world.

A walk along the Trench of Death, Dixmuide, Belgium. This was a totally mental position that went right up to the German lines - nowadays preserved using concrete sandbags....
Diksmuide, Death Trench
My dad and me held a WW1 tour. This trench is the only original one left. It is near Diksmuide, close to the Ijzer (river). There were a lot of originals left, but like musea, the interest faded. I tried to capture the feeling of the trenches, together with the security of my dear dad...
