Mark Rogers- Great American Teach-Off
Mark Rogers of the Meridian Charter School in Round Rock, is the only finalist from Texas in the national, Great American Teach-Off contest 2012.(Link to contest at the bottom) Of the ten teacher contestants, one will be awarded a $10,000 grant to benefit the students at their respective schools. I visited his classroom last Wednesday to see what inspired him most. Turned out it was the simple reward of seeing kids learn. I think this passion is what's missing in our budget-gutted school systems today. Rogers chucked the chase for the dollar - he was formerly and investment banker based in London- and he now wakes up to rap to, and inspire the kids who will shape the future of Pflugerville, our nation, and then onto our world. After the video, if you think Mark Rogers represents innovation in the classroom, vote for him to win a $10,000 grant to benefit the students at Meridian School. The Meridian School opened its doors on August 30 of last year, and there's more than 1,000 applicants that have already registered for the lottery, where students are randomly drawn for placement in the school. It's capacity level is 698 students. Mark Rogers, the nominee, said that that the fact that the school chartered- definition below- it allowed him flexible lesson planning. It inspired Roger's 'famous' remixed Top 40 Billboard Hits that he raps to help the kids retain the mundane.
Below is the Wikipedia definition of 'charter school'.
Charter schools are primary or secondary schools that receive public money (and like other schools, may also receive private donations) but are not subject to some of the rules, regulations, and statutes that apply to other public schools in exchange for some type of accountability for producing certain results, which are set forth in each school's charter.[1] Charter schools are opened and attended by choice.[2] While charter schools provide an alternative to other public schools, they are part of the public education system and are not allowed to charge tuition. Where enrollment in a charter school is oversubscribed, admission is frequently allocated by lottery-based admissions systems. However, the lottery is open to all students.[3] In a 2008 survey of United States charter schools, 59% of the schools reported that they had a waiting list, averaging 198 students.[4] Some charter schools provide a curriculum that specializes in a certain field — e.g., arts, mathematics, or vocational training. Others attempt to provide a better and more efficient general education than nearby public schools. Charter school students take state-mandated exams.[5]
Some charter schools are founded by teachers, parents, or activists who feel restricted by traditional public schools.[6] State-authorized charters (schools not chartered by local school districts) are often established by non-profit groups, universities, and some government entities.[7] Additionally, school districts sometimes permit corporations to manage chains of charter schools. The schools themselves are still non-profit, in the same way that public schools may be managed by a for-profit corporation. Corporate management does not affect the status of a school. In the United States, though the percentage of students educated in charter schools varies by school district, only in the New Orleans Public Schools system are the majority of children educated within independent public charter schools.[8]
DIY Gabion Walls
Here is a quick tutorial of how I build my own gabion walls from standard concrete remesh and galvanized wire. They are simple to build and can be filled with most types of large stones, rock, or concrete chunks. These are commonly available materials and often can be found free on craigslist. As always, thanks for watching:)

Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) Overview
A Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) is where applicants for military service go to complete the enlistment process. There are 65 MEPS in the United States and Puerto Rico. Applicants who must travel a distance will receive free lodging at a nearby hotel. Meals and transportation are also provided at no cost.
Nicknamed Freedom's Front Door, MEPS are staffed with military and civilian professionals who carefully screen each applicant to ensure he or she meets the physical, academic and moral standards set by each Service. To do so, each applicant goes through the following steps:
- Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) testing
- Career Counseling
- Physical Exam
- Background Screening
- Oath of Enlistment
Following the Oath, an applicant is now a full member of the U.S. Military. At this point, he or she may ship directly to Basic Training for his or her branch, or enroll in the Delayed Entry (or Enlistment) Program (DEP) and undergo training at a future time. It can be a long day, and a lot happens quickly, but applicants are briefed at every step by MEPS staff, and there is always help available should questions arise.

Why Are 96,000,000 Black Balls on This Reservoir?
I took a boat through 96 million black plastic balls on the Los Angeles reservoir to find out why they're there. The first time I heard about shade balls the claim was they reduce evaporation. But it turns out this isn't the reason they were introduced.
Huge thanks to LADWP for arranging this special tour for me. Next time let's put the GoPro on the submersible!
The balls are made of high density polyethylene (HDPE) which is less dense than water so they float on the surface of the reservoir even if they break apart. They are 10cm (4 inches) in diameter and contain about 210ml of water. So the main reason they are on the reservoir is to block sunlight from entering the water and triggering a chemical reaction that turns harmless bromide into carcinogenic bromate. This effect occurs with prolonged exposure to bromate so regulators insist that levels be kept below 10 microgram per liter on average over a 12 month period.

Airgun Hunting Umarex Hammer Air Rifle Red Deer : American Airgunner TV
Rossi Morreale, host of American Airgunner TV Show goes airgun hunting on a big red deer hunt with the Umarex Hammer Air Rifle and Eydin Hansen the #TXHogDude and Umarex USA Pro Staffer. This is a hunt of a lifetime set up with Executive Outdoor Adventures for Rossi where the anticipation of harvesting a big red stag deer, with a big bore rifle that only few have shot, in combination with the pressure of having to get a hunt for the 2018 season have him tense and nervous with energy. It's a good thing he and his guide, Bubba, had their Prym1 camo with, because it turned cold just before he arrived for this hunt.

Book your hunt of a lifetime with Executive Outdoor Adventures:
---------
The red deer is a big deer species native to Europe and is considered an exotic in the United States. It can now be hunted in many parts of the world both on private and public lands like the large amounts of hunting lands managed by Executive Outdoor Adventures of Texas.
No, we don't know when the Umarex Hammer 50 cal will be available. We do know we were lucky to be among the first to hunt with the working prototype... the same rifle that was at SHOT Show range day in January of 2018. It's a beast for sure. It has a kick like no other air rifle out there. We know that's because of the way the engineers designed the rifle and its Lightspeed valve. The Hammer moves a lot of air and it moves it quick.
Rossi actually shoots the red deer twice. His first shot was well placed, but he wanted to drop it to make it quick, thus the second shot. He was using a 350 grain lead slug. You may have seen pictures of it from a display at SHOT Show and the NRA Show.

Klondike Alaska: A Rail History
For most people, railroads in Alaska and the Yukon are synonymous with the Alaska Railroad and the White Pass and Yukon Railroad whose passenger cars provide tourists with vistas of awe-inspiring terrain. That same terrain provided enormous challenges for early settlers of both territories. Railroads were an integral part of overcoming those challenges. Dozens of other railroads also laid track in Alaska, the Yukon, and northwest British Columbia and provided the means to transport supplies to settlements and to transport the region’s raw materials to outside markets. Klondike Alaska charts the history of many of those railroads. ©KUAC 2005

Marine Corps recruiter was hanging around
Suzy told Johnny go serve your nation
take a cab down to the MEPS station

Momma told Johnny not to go down town
Marine Corps recruiter was hanging around
Suzy's in the bedroom, Jodie's at the window
Johnny's got his bags and he's ready to go
put Johnny on a greyhound bus
then there came the bends and thrusts
Drill Instructors trained him rough and hard
They taught him to fight, they taught him to march
lo right, a lo righty a lay o

Momma told Johnny not to go down town
Marine Corps recruiter was hanging around
it was short but long it seemed
Johnny had earned the title Marine
Johnny survived like all the rest
Johnny got popped on a urine analysis
Johnny thought he was one in a million
a urine sample made him a civilian

I had a pig and his name was Sam
Sunday he was bacon, on Monday he was ham
Grinding my Ka-bar in the barn
While my donkey runs the farm
Got a steer and his name was Jake
Tuesday he was burgers on Wednesday he was steak
Grinding my ka-bar in the barn

Gotta strip out some baby chicks
Me and my donkey gonna take a little trip
The Colonel's in need of some Crispy strips

Got two roosters named larry and Lee

Gotta have gyros and mutton ain't cheap
I still grind my ax in the barn

On 14 June 2013, Naughty Dog's epic story of a man escorting a teenage girl in a post-apocalyptic United States of America was published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game received extremely high praise from critics and gamers alike, winning over 240 Game of the Year awards.
The game is played exclusively on the Playstation, originally the PS3 and later (as for this playthrough) as a remastered version for the PS4. Controls are: ◯ to crouch; ✕ to climb; △ to interact / search; ⬜ melee, also as a QTE response (such as break loose when grabbed); L1 to aim; R1 to shoot / throw (or to reload when not aiming); L2 to sprint; R2 to listen; DPad left/right to select weapon; DPad up/down to select consumable; and R3 (press down on the right stick) to use the flashlight.
After a parasitic virus devastates the United States, things fall into disarray. Communities similar to towns are established, with military-style guards, while some revolutionary groups harass the settlements. Joel, his brother Tommy, and his daughter Sarah all attempt to flee Austin, Texas, to safety. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned. 20 years later, Joel is worn out, just going through the motions, when he receives a new lease on life. Let's play The Last of Us and join the characters on their dramatic journey. #LastOfUs #playthrough #letsplay #blind #TheLastOfUs
