Northern Thailand feels worlds away from the typical tourist destination but here I am discovering the transformation of a hill tribe culture from dependency on illicit trade to agricultural success.
In this remote, misty valley straddling the Thai-Myanmar border I am visiting the first research centre founded by His Majesty the late King in 1969 to help farmers to grow the high-value, low-yield fruits, flowers, vegetables that lend positive value to their lives, livelihoods and preserve an authentic culture. It's a moving experience and I am excited to share it with you.

THAILAND'S GOLDEN TRIANGLE - DOI ANG KHANG
I take a daytrip into Northwest Thailand in an area known for drug smuggling called the GOLDEN TRIANGLE. IT'S A combination of mountain motorcycling and scenic splendor. Daytrip golden triangle. Visiting Thailand on a budget has never been easier as none of the places I went require admission so my only expense was fuel. Doi Ang Khang is the tallest mountain in extreme NW Thailand and in addition to some fun motorcycle routes, it boasts a hill trive village and three Thai border guards.
Fang - The Most Rural Town I've Been to in Thailand
Fang is in the northern part of Chiang Mai province. I lived here for one year, and it was a little bit of a struggle.
