What a great ride!! Light traffic, remote road, mild grade, long fast downhill, a lot of Hmong villages. It was more than I expected.

Chiang Rai Thailand 2019
Went for a job interview in Mae Suai than took the opportunity to check out Wat Sang Kaew temple. It is different than the others temples that I have been to. There is a ‘fun’ theme to it.
You see statues smoking and drinking beer. You see a statue wearing converse tennis shoes. There is another statue with chains around it’s ankles. This is not what you would see at the other temples.
You can throw coins in the belly of a Buddha.
This temple is very colorful and is worth a visit. It’s not as well known as the other temples in Chiang Rai which is why there are not big crowds there.
Go and see for yourself.
Than it was off to Chiand Rai Beach. If you treat this as what it is, a relaxing place for lunch or dinner and a drink with friends, you will have reasonable expectations and enjoy your afternoon. If you're seeking somewhere with a lot of action, probably not your kind of place. Very relaxed atmosphere, just pick a place to sit and wait for a waiter. Order food and drinks, relax and enjoy, read a book, chat with friends. The food quality varies widely so look for the spot with the most locals is your best choice. Menus are in English and communication will not be a problem if you don't speak Thai.
