We spend the day visiting the fabulous DOLBADARN CASTLE, on the outskirts of Llanberis, Snowdonia. The views are simply spectacular, and the castle features a tricky little staircase that's worth the effort, as long as you have small feet!!! A great place to just sit ....and enjoy.!!

Llanberis is a village in Gwynedd, northwest Wales, on the southern bank of the lake Llyn Padarn and at the foot of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. It is a popular centre for outdoor activities in Snowdonia, including walking, mountaineering, climbing, mountain biking and pony trekking as well as water sports such as Scuba Diving. The international fell race known as the Snowdon Race (Welsh: Ras Yr Wyddfa) to the summit of Snowdon begins in the village.
Llanberis takes its name from Saint Peris, an early Welsh saint. It is twinned with the Italian town of Morbegno in Lombardy.
The ruins of Dolbadarn Castle, which were famously painted by Richard Wilson and J.M.W. Turner, stand above the village. The 13th century fortress was built by Llywelyn the Great and is a grade I listed building.

Llyn Padarn Walk, Llanberis Walks, Snowdonia Walks In Gwynedd, Wales, UK
This Llyn Padarn Walk was about 5 miles in distance. The terrain of the route was a combination of woodland paths, tracks and lanes around Llyn Padarn with some great viewpoints along the way. The walking was mostly easy on level ground except for some steps and a little moderate ascent and descent near the start of the walk. Route finding was easy with obvious paths, good waymarking and good landmarks. There were no stiles to climb over, just one squeeze-stile.

Skenfrith Castle and more
Skenfrith/Ynysgynwraidd; a small village in Monmouthshire situated in the south-east Wales. Located next to the River Monnow, and only 3700 ft from the border of Wales and England. The road through the village (B4521) was once the A40, linking Ross-on-Wye and Abergavenny.
