Wildlife of Haines Alaska
This footage was taken over a few days while fishing for Pink and Sockeye Salmon in the Chilkoot River in Haines, Alaska. The salmon run brings all kinds of wildlife to the riverbank to feed on the delicious and nutritious tough guys - grizzly's, eagles, ravens, seals and of course humans. Sharing the river with wildlife, a balance of respect and sustainability is important, especially when it comes to the grizzly's!
One bear, the lone bear seen eating fish in the river toward the second half of the video, is an old friend of mine. BMJ is 29 years old now (born the same year as me) and I remember seeing her over several years, sometimes with a cub or three. She has had over 9 cubs in her lifetime but I don't think many have survived due to tourists claiming them to be a nuisance when they have gotten into fish coolers. Sadly the solution was to kill them because they had gotten used to feeding themselves this way and weren't able to fish for themselves. Apparently the last couple of cubs did survive due to rangers efforts to minimize contact between bears and humans. Typically grizzly's live to be between 20-30 years old in the wild. I hope she lives out the last few years in peace after losing so many of her babies.

Alaska - The Last Frontier (Intro)
This is a promo for the upcoming travel documentary about Alaska.
Alaska! know as the the Last frontier. A land rich with wildlife, centuries old glaciers and home to the tallest mountains in North America.
Alaska is the largest state of The United States of America, yet it remains sparsely populated and remote, infact Alaska is so vast that some of its cities (including the state capital, Juneau) are not accessible by road. It is for this reason that locals often get their pilot's license before they get their driver's license.
We decided the best way for us to discover Alaska would be to take a cruise up the inside passage, to see the coastal cities of Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and the stunning Glacier Bay.
On our adventure, we take a bus across the canadian border and into the Tundra of the Yukon.
We rent a car in Anchorage and drove north to Fairbanks, where we sleep in an old Alaskan train that has been converted into a Burlesque themed boudoir. All with the hopes of seeing the awe inspiring Northern lights.
A long the way we visit an ice hotel and enjoy a relaxing dip in some natural hot springs.
Join us on this exciting adventure as we discover ' The Last Frontier'

Eagle Beach Juneau Alaska - Majestic Memories
A wonderful day in Juneau Alaska with some friends exploring the Majestic Eagle Beach Recreation Center, and Forrest Park Area. A nice little montage of our outing all with a GoPro. 4 out of 6 of us stayed dry. Moral of the day, bring extra socks, and don't trust small streams that are murky and 2 meters wide.

Pink salmon mouth of Nome River, Alaska
Ketchikan, Alaska (Creek Street and Cape Fox Hill Tram)
Creek Street is a historic boardwalk perched on pilings along the banks of Ketchikan Creek in Ketchikan, Alaska. . It is now a quaint place to tour Dolly's House museum, view totem poles, shop at locally-owned stores and galleries, enjoy local art and culture. In the summer months salmon gather by the thousands to spawn upstream; seals and otters are never far away with eagles perched in the trees above.
The Cape Fox Hill-Creek Street Funicular (known as the tram), a sort of diagonal elevator, runs 211 feet from the boardwalk up to the Cape Fox Lodge on top of the hill. Take it up and then enjoy the walk down through the woods. The summertime fare is $2, but if no one is around, just press the up button and go.
Chilkoot River, Haines, Alaska mama grizzly and her two cubs.
My husband decides to get up close and personal with the local mama grizzly and her cubs. Too close. She did start to follow him for a short time just before I turned the video on. An amazing experience, to say the least!

Haines Alaska - Bear Hunting Salmon on Chilkoot River
We were fortunate enough to get lucky during bear-o'clock in Haines, Alaska. Chilkoot river bear viewing was definitely on our minds when we arrived in Haines Alaska.
Across the river, we watched a mama bear teach her cubs how to hunt for salmon. We spotted this guy on our side of the river, and decided to follow downstream. It was spectacular.
