Matthew and the dolphin at Aqualand, 2015
This was another special moment in our life when Matthew, our 9 year old son who has Autism and ADHD, got to swim with a dolphin at Aqualand in Costa Adeje, Tenerife. Yes, when he goes left that was him 'steering' the dolphin with his fins lol.
The difference in his confidence now and 3 years ago is incredible, he would hardly look at them then let alone go near them! I remain amazed and very very lucky and grateful for this fantastic opportunity.

TENERIFE Whales & Dolphins

Whale & Dolphin Conservation - Volunteering in Tenerife
Join the Frontier Whale & Dolphin Conservation Project and help conserve the cetaceans endemic to the Canary Islands.
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and actually closer to the coast of Africa than any European country.
Join our volunteers on the project in doing community work, coastal surveys and boat surveys and have an amazing time with like-minded people in the Frontier volunteer house.

We Experience the Wee 'Train' Costa Adeje Tenerife
This is the little white 'train' that continually trundles at 15 mph round Adeje Costa Sur resort annoying the car drivers and delivery men in the process. The train operates on a circular route and always returns to where you picked it up. You can jump off and then jump on after 45 mins when the next one arrives. Journey times as implied are around 45 mins and the charge is about 9 Euros which is rather steep for what you get,-a very bumpy, noisy ride. Nevertheless it is one of the quickest, best and fun ways of seeing most of the resort sites/hotels/shopping/eateries/marina and finding your bearings. It is no fun trailing children on long walks anywhere in high temperatures. Most children will love the train. Drivers toot at anyone they know. The train ride is what you make it. As usual we had a laugh.
The reality is if you are intent on getting from a to b it is much better/quicker/cheaper to walk or take the bus. The train will not take you to places like Los Christianos!
so it is up to you. Once will be enough for the experience! lol

An amazing show of dolphins. You have to see how dolphins can be amazing.
Dolphins are highly intelligent marine mammals and are part of the family of toothed whales that includes orcas and pilot whales. They are found worldwide, mostly in shallow seas of the continental shelves, and are carnivores, mostly eating fish and squid. Dolphin coloration varies, but they are generally gray in color with darker backs than the rest of their bodies. It is difficult to estimate population numbers since there are many different species spanning a large geographic area. Dolphins are well known for their agility and playful behavior, making them a favorite of wildlife watchers. Many species will leap out of the water, spy-hop (rise vertically out of the water to view their surroundings) and follow ships, often synchronizing their movements with one another. Scientists believe that dolphins conserve energy by swimming alongside ships, a practice known as bow-riding.
Dolphins live in social groups of five to several hundred. They use echolocation to find prey and often hunt together by surrounding a school of fish, trapping them and taking turns swimming through the school and catching fish. Dolphins will also follow seabirds, other whales and fishing boats to feed opportunistically on the fish they scare up or discard.

????WHALE WATCHING IN TENERIFE WITH DOLPHINS | + Short Hike in Los Carrizales
If you want to do Whale Watching in Tenerife, this video is for you!
I'm spending two months on Tenerife altogether and this is the first part of it. I rented a car to drive around the island. My first trip was a Whale Watching Tour from Los Americanos. I had much luck this day as beside a lot of whales I also saw some dolphins, which you can't see every day.
A few days later I also did a short hike in Los Carrizales. It was an amazing view of all the mountains. So watch the video until the end ;-)
It was also a nice view from the ocean to Mount Teide, the volcano on Tenerife.
The whale watching tour provider was SeaguestFF:
On my second trip, I went to the mountains between Masca and Los Carrizales. Most people go to Masca to do some trekking there. But as flying drones is restricted around Masca, I decided to go to Los Carrizales and look for a nice trek there. It was successful and I got a lot of nice shots from there.
Stay tuned for the next video. I'm planning to do a hike up the Mount Teide there. So there should be a lot of nice footage.
