Baguio’s Haunted DIPLOMAT HOTEL and Its Dark Past In the philippines
The former Diplomat Hotel in Baguio City, Philippines sits on top of the Dominican Hill. It used to be a rest house and a seminary way back 1911 before it was developed into a school and eventually, a hotel.
Almost every tourist that goes to Baguio makes it a point to visit this place because in spite of the ruins, it remained as one of the most panoramic and picturesque spots in the City of Pines.
During the World War II, numerous nuns and priests were beheaded here. This is believed to be the reason why headless apparitions can often be seen during the night inside the hotel. The employees and guests also claimed that they would often hear strange sounds coming from the building. Crying coming from kids and babies became a common noise, which can be attributed to the massacre of numerous children done at the fountain.
The bombs that showered this structure so many years ago reduced it to something almost beyond renewal. Fortunately, it was reconstructed in 1947 and in 1973, it was acquired and transformed into a hotel by Diplomat Hotels, Inc. Managing it then is businessman, psychic surgeon and spiritual healer Tony Agpaoa. Since then, it became the haven of his patients that mostly came from abroad and they stayed here while being healed.
Based on research, there was an incident wherein fire broke out many years ago and several guests who were then staying at the hotel were trapped inside and died. One of the caretakers also affirmed that for unknown reasons, a woman who used to work here as a nurse committed suicide by jumping from the rooftop where the cross is situated.
Since the death of Tony Agpaoa in 1987, the hotel ceased its operation and was temporarily closed to the public. It was declared off limits to visitors as well. However, the people who are living nearby were often disturbed by sounds coming from the Dominican Hill at night. They would hear banging of doors and windows, clattering of dishes and voices of screaming people, who seem to be agonizing.
Note: Tony Agpaoa had a heart attack inside the hotel and was rushed to a hospital where he died.
A lot of documentaries have been written about this mysterious structure. Up to these days, many curious people go to Baguio to see the ruins of what used to be the spellbinding grand hotel that boasts of its large rooms, striking details and admirable design.

The Diplomat Hotel is an abandoned structure and a reportedly haunted place atop Dominican Hill, Baguio, Philippines. It is now undergoing rehabilitation through the efforts of the city government. The whole property on which it stands has been renamed as the Dominican Heritage Hill and Nature Park. A panoramic view of the city unfolds from its vantage point, the stone crucifix on the outdoor patio of the hotel's second floor.

Diplomat Hotel Baguio City
Diplomat Hotel on Dominican Hill - In May 1911, the councils of the Province of the Dominican Order voted to construct a vacation house in Baguio on a 17 hectare property they had acquired when the American authorities were encouraging people to come here. Actual work started in 1913 under Fr. Roque Ruano and the building was inaugurated on May 23, 1915. To take advantage of the tax exemptions a school called Collegio del Santissimo Rosario was opened in June 1915 but due to the very small enrollment the school closed in 1917, reverting the building to the original vacation house sanitarium.
During WWII it was first occupied by refugees. Later the Japanese Army Liberation Forces had to bomb out the refugees from the buildings. The five direct hits left very extensive damage and for a time it was left unrepaired. Reconstruction was started in 1947 and completed in 1948 with most of its pre-war grandeur and beauty restored.
In 1973, Diplomats Hotels, Inc. acquired ownership, remodeled the interior into a 33 bedroom hotel with modern facilities, but retained the unique and distinct personality of the Dominican Hill. In the 80's the hotel ceased operations due to the death of one of its majority stockholders. Plans are underway to develop this historical religious landmark into a tourist resort.
Baguio City Burnham Park Zumba | Diplomat Hotel #baguio Philippines #TravelDiary 9

Leaving Vigan at 3am I took the Partas Bus bound for Baguio City. The fare cost me 314pesos it was meant to be a 5 hour bus ride but we made good time and did it in 4 hours. Travel tip for night buses in the Philippines, Wear something warm, the air conditioning is dialed to very cold.
I arrived in Baguio City around 7am. I had not booked accommodation as yet, I had a couple of hotels in mind but decided on City Center Hotel Baguio City. The hotel is located on the lower end of Session Road, which is pretty much the middle of everything in the city. The room I checked in to was a standard twin room. It's comfortable, has a great shower, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, cable TV, clean and because the room is away from the main road it was quiet enough. I paid 2100php/night and stayed for 3 nights
I heard about Zumba in the park, so I decided to wake up early and check it out. I got to Burnham park around 6am and straight away you can hear the music. Burnham Park is rectangle in shape with a lake in the middle and foot paths around it. I discovered that every corner of the park has a Zumba class. There were a lot of people in the park focused in fitness, lots of people jogging, walking and of course attending Zumba classes.
I also visited the Diplomat Hotel. This hotel has had a long history and recently it was featured in an episode of the Ghost Hunters International. It was built in 1913 and it's purpose was to be a retreat for Dominican Priests, after 2 years it became a college for the parish, in 1918 it returned as a house for Dominican priests. During the world war 2 1942-1945, the Japanese occupied the residence and turned it to a prisoner of war camp, until the Americans bombed it in 1945. From 1945-1947 it was restored. 1973-1987 it became the Diplomat Hotel. Since 2005 it has been the property of Baguio City .
