LIFE IN POSITANO - 2020/Ep 3: Hiking from Montepertuso, Positano books and garden plans.
This video took 8 hours to upload, Internet is so slow here!
Anyway, this week we did another hike from Montepertuso up to the Caserma Forestale and across to Santa Maria di Castello for lunch at Zi'Peppe.
We started planning a chicken/duck coop in the garden.
A second breakfast with friends at the Bar Intenazionale and a quick trip to Praiano.
It rained so I tell you about some Amalfi Coast books:

Costiera Amalfitana Italy. Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, Capri
Amalfi Coast is very nice place to visit. Words are not enough to explain this area. Its like a natural paradise. Definitely you have to come and visit. The Amalfi Coast is one of the Italian places recognised by UNESCO as a “World Heritage site”. The area gives you lots of opportunities. For hiking, trekking and cycling (road bike or mtb) the best time to visit is from March to June, if you like sea and sun best time is from July to September. You can visit the coast also on February when Carnival is celebrated. As you can see, you have lots of choices to do. Amalfi, Positano, Ravello and isle of Capri are the top places to visit.

Taking the Cablecar to Monte Faito and hiking down to Positano
I'm guessing a lot of people don't even know about the cablecar that connects Castellamare di Stabia with Monte Faito at the top of Monte Sant'Angelo.Italian name is 'Funevia del Monte Faito- Castellamare.
It has recently been repaired and restored so we decided to go try it out!
From Positano we caught the bus to Meta (it ended up not going there so we got off at Piano di Sorrento) and the Circumvesuviana to Castellamare.
The cablecar departs from the train station so it was all very easy.
We had big plans to admire the amazing view....we failed big time as we passed most of the day up in the clouds!
The hike back down was not so easy, all in all we walked 24kms!
We followed signposts (in order)to :
Santuario di San Michele
Molare
Conocchio which was the very top of the mountain.
From there we followed the red and white stripes painted on random rocks. The pathway was very precarious, all the railings were broken or gone and it was all broken rubble and rocks.
We headed down towards the Caserma Forestale above Positano; from here we could have walked straight down to Montepertuso, but instead we went right, to Santa Maria Di Castello and walked back down from there.
It took all day.
And then it poured!

The Most Romantic Amalfi Coast Elopement
Amalfi Coast, ITALY - They began the first year of their relationship halfway around the world. Tim was contracted for work on a naval base for several years in Sicily and Amy was teaching art. After a year she came back to the states, but visited him as often as she could. They simply couldn’t live without each other. Fast forward a little while and Tim proposed under the Northern Lights. Fast forward again and they are getting married in the Amalfi Coast. Romantics!

This trip was an absolute dream. I keep saying it, but I don’t know how else to describe it. When we were on the boat at sunset coming into Positano, it felt like a movie. The scenery, the people, the food, the history, the vibe was everything. This intimate wedding was everything.

I am forever grateful for all the couples who put their trust in me to help tell their wedding story. Whether you are getting married in Oregon, California, or even somewhere exotic as Italy, it truly means so much. I’m so grateful for the opportunities this job has provided me and family.

Italy: Drone captures chaotic aftermath of deadly Ischia earthquake
Drone footage released on by Italy's Vigili del Fuoco on Wednesday shows the aftermath of the earthquake which struck the Italian island of Ischia, off the coast of Naples, Monday evening.
Two people were killed and at least 40 were injured in the quake, which measured 4 on the Richter scale but wreaked havoc on the age-old architecture on the island, including a church and a hospital which were damaged.

My Best Days in Cinque Terre, ITALY
My Best Days in Cinque Terre, ITALY. If you think to travel in Italy Cinque Terre is one of the good destination for your holiday. Cinque Terre is a coastal area within Liguria, in the northwest of Italy. It lies west of La Spezia, and comprises five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Cinque Terre area is a popular tourist destination. Over the centuries, people have built terraces on the rugged, steep landscape right up to the cliffs that overlook the sea. Paths, trains and boats connect the villages and cars cannot reach them from the outside.

Our visit Naples travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide to Neapolitan cuisine, top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting cathedrals, pizzerias, the old town, quirky neighborhoods and museums. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Naples tourism brochure, Naples itinerary or Naples, Italy city tour also known as Napoli Italia.
10 Things to do in Naples, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (NAPOLI)
Tell anyone you’re travelling to Naples and you’ll likely get a few raised eyebrows with some side comments about the mafia, or grid-lock traffic, or garbage on the streets. Somewhere along the way, Naples seems to have earned a bad reputation, but we thought it all sounded a bit too harsh. We wanted to experience the city for ourselves, plus we’d also heard there was good pizza!
We ended up having a grand ol’ time, so join on us as we show you what you can get up to with a couple of days in Naples, plus somewhere along the way, we’ll also reveal where we ate our favourite pizza.
Piazza del Plebiscito seemed like a good place to start our tour. This is a large public square in Central Naples, that earned its name from the 1860 vote that brought Naples into the unified Kingdom of Italy.
The plaza is surrounded by numerous attractions, including the Royal Palace of Naples on one side, and the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola.
We then visited the Royal Palace of Naples. This was one of the four residences in Naples used by the Bourbon Kings during their rule of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
The admission fee was 4 Euros and this gave us access to the Royal Apartments where we got to admire porcelains, tapestries, sculptures and painted ceilings found within the palace walls.
We visited was Castel Nuovo, an imposing medieval castle that dates back to 1282. This castle was built when Charles I of Naples took the throne and moved his capital from Palermo to Naples.
Admission to the castle was 6 Euros per person.
We stopped by Caffe Gambrinus, a historic coffeehouse in the heart Naples for a bite and drink.
We visited Galleria Umberto I, which is a gallery which vaulted iron and glass ceilings, where you can shop & people watch.
This gallery dates back to the late 1880s and meant to be reminiscent of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan.
While in Naples, we took it upon ourselves to find the best pizza in the city. This involved eating a total of 10 pizzas over two days.
In the end we decided Da Michele was our personal favourite.
Because we always enjoy visiting outdoor markets wherever we go, we stopped by the Fish Market.
Moving on to museums we visited Naples National Archaeological Museum. This museum holds the Farnese Marbles, which is an impressive collection of Roman copies of classical Greek sculptures and ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Another place we visited in Naples was the Quartieri Spagnoli, or Spanish Quarter. The streets in this quarter were laid down during the 16th century for the Spanish military barracks outside the city walls. The streets here are narrow and the buildings tall.
And that’s a wrap for our quick 2-day tour of Naples. We hope this video gave you a few ideas of things you can do in the city and all the pizza you can eat in between.
This is part of our Travel in Italy video series showcasing Italian food, Italian culture and Italian cuisine.
