Donabate and Portrane [Ireland]
My friend and I went to discover the hidden gems surrounding her hometown and we ended up in some amazing places. Donabate is about a half hours train ride from Dublin City and Portrane is a short bus ride from Donabate.

Balcarrick Beach is located in Donabate, approximately 22km from Dublin City Centre in Fingal, North County Dublin. It is a long sandy beach, 3.4 km's in length, consisting of a large sandy dune area, which has formed over the last 25-30 years. There are rocks at the northern end and the main part of the beach which extends to the south is wide and sandy. From the beach, visitors can see Lambay Island, Howth Peninsula and Malahide Estuary. Activities at this beach usually include swimming, canoeing, and walking. Sites of interest close by are the Newbridge House and Farm and the coastal walk from Donabate to Portrane.
There is a large public car-park at the beach. Donabate village is served by the No. 33B bus service; the beach is about a 20-minute walk from the bus stop. Donabate train station is located in the center of the town and again the beach is about a 20-minute walk from the train station. There are a number of pedestrian accesses to the beach. Public toilets and a lifeguard station incorporating a First Aid Station are provided at the beach.
