Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

'Less Western involvement more dangerous than regime change' - Intl Crisis Group CEO
WATCH FULL EPISODE HERE:
The conflicts in Syria and Ukraine precipitated a breakdown in the US–centered international order. And with the emergence of a multipolar world, few of the international mechanisms governing power relations between nations have proven effective. How can world leaders tackle the global proliferation of conflicts, and which principles could help ensure a peaceful future? Oksana is joined by Jean-Marie Guehenno, president of the International Crisis Group, to examine these issues.

VOA news for Monday, April 27th, 2015
From Washington, this is VOA news. I'm Ray Kouguell reporting. Death toll climbs in Nepal earthquake disaster.
Residents in Nepal's capital, Kathmandu, are seeking refuge out of doors, fearing aftershocks from the earthquake that rocked much of the region Saturday.
The 7.8-magnitude quake struck 80 kilometers northwest of Kathmandu, destroying large parts of the city's historic center. At least 2,400 people were killed in the quake. Anjana Pasricha reports.
[No sound from 0'38 to 1'12] The United States is pledging an immediate $1 million for disaster relief.
The U.S., India, China, Germany and Israel are among the countries sending disaster personnel to the area.
Officials in Togo are counting ballots from Saturday's presidential election in a vote expected to see President Faure Gnassingbe remain in power.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has six days from the end of voting to announce the results of the poll.
It says only 53 to 55 percent of eligible voters took part in the vote.
President Gnassingbe is seeking a third five-year term, which would keep his family in power for nearly 50 years. He assumed office in 2005 upon the death of his father.
This is VOA news.
Fighting raged through Yemen Sunday, with jets from the Saudi-led coalition attacking Houthi-[led]held positions near the presidential compound in the capital of Sana'a. The warplanes also struck pro-rebel sites in Shabwa and Lahj provinces.
The Riyadh-led air bombardment entered its second month Sunday despite Saudi Arabia's announcement last week that it was scaling back its air campaign.
Elsewhere, ground clashes erupted in the southern port city of Aden. Other fighting broke out in the oil-rich central Marib province.
Israeli forces killed four suspected militants whom it says were caught trying to plant a bomb in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
Israeli military officials say they launched an airstrike Sunday on the militants near the town of Majdal Shams, close to the Israeli-Syrian border.
The officials say the four were targeting Israeli troops.
Earlier Sunday, Syrian fighter jets struck a market in the town of Darkush, near the Turkish border. The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the government airstrikes killed at least 40 civilians.
Suspected Boko Haram militants have attacked a Niger army base on an island in Lake Chad.
Niger military sources say hundreds of armed militants riding on motorized canoes attacked the island of Karamga Saturday morning.
The number of casualties was not release, but unnamed officials say the military might have suffered heavy loss.”
The Defense Ministry says that operations are ongoing, aimed at clearing the island of militants.
Mourners gathered Sunday to pay tribute to a 25-year-old black man who died while in police custody. An unexplained death has brought thousands to the city's downtown to protest police violence in Baltimore, Maryland.
A small line of mourners filed into a funeral home in that eastern U.S. city for a wake held for Freddie Gray, who died a week ago of severe spinal chord injuries.
Gray's funeral is planned for Monday.
Protesters have been demanding justice in daily demonstrations since Gray's death on April 19. Days of largely peaceful demonstrations turned sporadically violent Saturday, with several storefronts and car windshields smashed.
Police arrested at least 34 people.
Ukraine says that one of its soldiers was killed and seven others injured Sunday in a new outbreak of violence between government forces and pro-Russian separatists fighting for control in eastern Ukraine.
A Ukrainian military spokesman accused the insurgents of escalating their fire against Kyiv's troops in the last 24 hours, a new threat to the fragile cease-fire agreed to in February.
He said the attacks were mostly focused near the Donetsk airport and near Mariupol.

What Is That? Huge Flash Of Light In Sky Raises Suspicion
A huge flash in the night sky over Russia is raising suspicions after the authorities refuse to comment on its cause.
What WAS the mysterious flash that lit up Russian sky for 11 seconds, 'turning night into day'? Government's refusal to say sparks theories of missile blast... or UFOs
A huge flash in the night sky over Russia is raising suspicions after the authorities refuse to comment on its cause.
The eruption lit up the sky near Yekaterinburg for 11 seconds in what appeared to a major aerial explosion.
The strange light was not accompanied by any sound, according to eyewitnesses, although Russian authorities are refusing to comment on the event. One witness told the Siberian Times: '
'For a few moments night turned into dazzling day, then everything went dark again,' a witness told The Siberian Times -
The dark early evening sky turned into a dazzling orange light then pulsating yellow and white as the flash engulfed the entire sky.
The amazing images were recorded on a dashcam installed by a motorist.
According to the report: ' Theories for the explosion included a missile or an object from space.
'Yet it did not have the same shape or pattern as the Chelyabinsk meteorite which exploded over the Urals in February 2103.
'Inevitably, web versions claimed it could have caused by a UFO.'
The driver who shot the footage issued a plea on the internet for others to help him explain what caused it.
He said: ' On Friday (November 14, at 5.40pm - though the camera records it an hour later) I observed a flash in the sky, on the road on the way to Rezh.
'I found nothing about it on the news. Did anyone else see it? What was it?'
The mysterious glow was also filmed by the teenagers from Yekaterinburg on a mobile camera.
According to regional television neither meteorologists nor scientists can explain the strange phenomenon.
A local observatory indicated nothing fell from the sky on the day of the flash.
Russian officials were not anxious to throw any light on the dramatic eruption.
The regional office of the Emergencies Ministry refused to comment on the happening.

''The War On Putin'' Documentary [full]
Ever wondered why the Western media and its allies constantly demonize Russia and Vladimir Putin? This documentary may answer some of those questions.
This documentary takes a look into the Russian prospective of the events which have occurred between NATO and Russia over recent years, and the impending danger of global conflict which has been brewing as a result of U.S. hegemony and its aggression towards sovereign states.
The Zionist-controlled United States continues to poke the Russian bear as Russia is refusing to give up its sovereignty and capitulate to the desires of the international banking elites whom have now gained full control of both the EU and NATO-membered countries. As a result, using their media, money, power, influence and paid-off governments; the world is now on the brink of a thermonuclear conflict with Russia and the BRICS nations.
