I really enjoyed walking through the famous Dong Khoi Street!
French colonial style buildings have been built all along the street - such as the Opera House, the Notre Dame Cathadral, the Post Office, or the notable Rex Hotel. Lots of modern and traditional Vietnamese Art & Craft shops know how to attract foreign visitors. The trees and road are well-managed for walking along and people are very foreign-friendly. Also, there are several famous places along the street such as the Saigon River, the Vincom Center Shopping Mall, the Parkson Mall, or the People's Committee Building.

Busy Dong Khoi Street in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam is a must do for any first time visit to Vietnam as it has many architectural and historical gems along its half mile route. We start at the Saigon River and walk past two blocks of the most exclusive shopping in the city, past the old Opera House, make a quick detour at the City Hall and Nguyen Hue square, down to Independence/Reunification Palace, cross the street to the Museum of Hi Chi Minh City, and end at Notre Dame Cathedral and the beautiful Central Post Office.

Grand Hotel, 8 Dong Khoi street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
L'histoire du Grand Hôtel commence en octobre 1924. À l'époque, Henry Chavigny de Lachevrotière, est autorisé à ouvrir pour le compte de la Société du Grand Hôtel de Saigon, un débit de boissons à consommer sur place à Saigon, à l'angle des rues Catinat et Vannier1.
En 1930 ouvre le Grand Hôtel dont le directeur reste M. de Lachevrotière.
En 1937, l'hôtel prend le nom de Saïgon Palace. Il est dirigé en 1938 par Patrice Luciani puis, en 1939, par Antoine Giogetti.
En 1997, l'hôtel est entièrement rénové ; dirigé par le Saigon Tourist Holding Company, il prend le nom Grand Hôtel Saigon.
