Bangkok to Koh Samui | EP 2 of Thailand Myanmar Backpack Trip

How I reached from Koh Samui to Bangkok is what you gape at in my second Episode of Thailand Myanmar Backpack Trip.

The low-cost and trouble-free way, I found to travel from Bangkok to Koh Samui is via Bus & Ferry. Combined Trip of Bus + Ferrry is a long journey as there is an overnight Bus from Khaosan Road (Bangkok) to Don Sak Pier (Surat Thani) and right after there is a Ferry Ride of 90 Minutes with Seatran Ferry which will drop you at Nathon Pier (Koh Samui). From Pier it will take another 30 minutes to reach your Hotel.

This might be a long route as compare to the direct flight but its comfortable and the most affordable way to travel. Moreover, this trip will take you to the roadtrip of North to South Thailand and you will be amazed to see the villages and Towns of Thailand.

The Donsak Pier located at mainland Thailand. The ferry can fetch both vehicles and humans. It cost me $450 Thai Baht to ship my bike across to Ko Samui. The journey took about 1 1/2 hours.

A video that shows some of the travel from Seatran Ferry From Koh Samui To Donsak Pier Surat Thani Thailand.

It is a cheap way to get to Surat Thani Airport.

The journey takes around 2 hours but you can relax and view the beautiful islands around Koh Samui and Thailand's mainland.

Tickets are available to buy as a package. You get a mini van pick up from your hotel, then the ferry ride and another bus to Surat Thani Airport, Surat Thani or to train and bus stations that take you around Thailand. In Aug 2016. We paid 600 baht each for this travel.

There are also faster ferries to the mainland from Koh Samui that only take 1 hour to travel but they are a little bit more expensive.

How to Travel from Bangkok to Koh Samui

Fly from Bangkok to Surat Thani and Ferry to Koh Samui.
In this episode, I say goodbye to the city of Bangkok and will fly from Don Mueang International Airport as one of the two Bangkok international airports to Surat Thani Province in southern Thailand. My ultimate destination on this trip is an island on the west of the gulf of Thailand called Koh Samui.
Koh Samui is an island off the east coast of the Kra Isthmus, Thailand. Geographically in the Chumphon Archipelago, it is part of Surat Thani Province.

I could fly directly from Bangkok to Koh Samui; but I rather chose an alternative route which is cheaper and more existing since I can get to see more of beautiful country of Thailand from ground.

At first, after exploring the beautiful city of Bangkok for couple of days, I fly from Bangkok to Surat Thani International Airport which is a very small airport and the airplane literally pulled over next to the only building of the terminal. From there after sleeping for a night in Surat Thani, I took a bus next morning to the ferry port at Don Sak Sakon Port. I was able to ride a ferry which was a very pleasant ride to Koh Samui.
