Hanzell Vineyards - Sonoma, California
The home of the oldest Chardonnay vines in California, Hanzell Vineyards was founded by James David Zellerbach (later a United States Ambassador to Italy) who acquired 200 acres in the Mayacamas Mountains in 1943 and began planting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in 1953.

Viansa Vineyards & Winery and Marketplace -- Tastefully Yours
The natural beauty of Sonoma Valley Wine Country is undisputed and the quality of wine grapes that usher forth from its soil is legendary. But, when we looked upon the gently rolling terrain we saw more than the potential to produce world class wines. We envisioned a Tuscan sanctuary where wine, food and Italian traditions would be shared and celebrated in an unparalleled natural environment.
A Sonoma Winery Dream
In 1989, that vision became reality with the founding and thoughtful planning of Viansa Winery and Marketplace. Viansa Winery sits gracefully on the crest of a hill, surrounded by acres of healthy vineyards, groves of olive trees and a unique 90-acre natural preserve that's home to native California plants and wildlife. Embracing the Sonoma Valley land is a Mediterranean climate that nurtures Italian and California vines, and gives Viansa its distinct Tuscan environment.
Jewel on the Hilltop
Today, Viansa Winery graciously welcomes wine country visitors. A fine Tuscan villa crowns the landscape and provides a portal to enjoy all this wine country gem has to offer. Painted murals, massive wood beams, and Italian marble distinguish this Sonoma winery. Outside, Italian Cypress trees and stone pines embellish the extensive grounds and invite guests to relax and wander this singular Sonoma Valley retreat.
Wine country visitors may choose to take a wine tour and talk with Viansa's knowledgeable staff. People who have chosen to work at Viansa Winery love to share their enthusiasm for wine and the environment that is their professional home. Food and wine specialists are always available, anxious to share information with visitors to Sonoma Valley wineries and locals enjoying a day of wine touring and tasting.

Ram's Gate Winery, an Exceptional Experience
The folks Ram's Gate Winery refer to themselves as the Gateway to Sonoma and the Carneros wine region. It also leads to a full sensory experience with stunning views, architecture, and design, the aroma of the organic garden, the palate-pleasing culinary offerings, and, oh ya, the wine. It truly embodies the meaning of the nectar of the Gods. Ram's Gate Winery is like a spa without the massage tables and towels but just as relaxing. Managing Director David Oliver and winemaker Jeff Gaffner fill me in on its history and the experiences they yearn to offer their customers.

California wildfires devastate Silverado Trail wineries
Fifteen separate wildfires continued to rage in Northern California on Tuesday, having killed at least 13 people amid 73,000 acres of affected land, and prompting a state of emergency.
Footage shows fires in the Atlas Peak area, near The Silverado Trail, which is home to a number of wineries that have either been destroyed or severly damaged in the wake of the raging flames.
Fires began on Monday and have left firefighters unable to bring the infernos under control. At least 1,500 properties have been destroyed as a result.
