It is a residential neighborhood in the heart of the city of Las Palmas, between the districts of Arenales and Alcaravaneras. It is one of the most peaceful of the city, with large green areas for recreation among which the Doramas park and the Roman park. Garden City has an exclusively residential character, emphasizing the character gathered of its streets. Here are some important public buildings, such as the official residence of the President, the Canarian Government, the residence of the Air Command Canary Islands, the main building of the Red Cross in the city and municipal offices of the City of Las Palmas.
The Spanish Garden is a type of garden or landscape design developed in Spain that incorporates principles and elements of the Persian garden, the Roman garden, the garden Islamic Caliphate and the great gardens of Al-Andalus. During the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, new gardens Spaniards have continued, with a new interpretation, abstraction and away from traditional planning and aesthetic reasons.
Traditionally, the Garden of Eden is interpreted with a central axis crosswise to the four cardinal points, with large water sources or channels through which water flows and is reflected nestled in a walled courtyard. The remaining quadrants often had fruit and herbs. Thus, the most characteristic of the Spanish element is the sensory garden freshness, humidity, sound, greenery and fragrance. This type of garden is adapted to situations of sun and heat own country, so that water is the primary element and which is articulated around.
The Italian garden style was born on the hills overlooking the Arno, in the region of Florence, in the early Renaissance Italian, inspired by Roman gardens and Neapolitan and synthesizing their new ways. The gardens are located around the villages, almost always of the Medici, putting them in value and serving as a theater for his lavish parties. These gardens, automatons driven by water power allow all festive scenery.
In Spain the contributions of the Renaissance and early Baroque arrived late, and in the seventeenth century no clear examples of baroque garden, but small demonstrations that were intermingled with other styles, especially the remnants of Islamic gardens that pervivían of Muslim occupation Peninsula in the Middle Ages.
Although some authors in Spain there is a typology own garden definable distinctive characteristics such as Italian, French or English garden, inherited factors and influences of other types, as well as contributions from various cultural idiosyncrasies Spanish allow properly speak of a style of gardening itself the country, although it would be unorthodox and many regional variants, it brings some recognizable features and unambiguous to the art of gardening in the country.
In Spain, in addition to parks and gardens in general conception, either nonspecific or cut or specialist thematic character like the botanical gardens - there are numerous garden varieties by region, as are, the orchard, the manor, the courtyard or carmen. Until almost the nineteenth century, most gardens were promoted by royalty and aristocracy, until the social changes gestated between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, especially the Hindmost facilitated the creation of parks and gardens in public ownership for the use and enjoyment of all citizens. In the twentieth century it has been essential linkage with the urban gardening and greater social awareness towards ecology, which has led to the creation of projects increasingly linked to the natural environment.
The Romans had great agricultural knowledge, and perfected many techniques of cultivation and farming tools. In addition, they perfected largely engineering hydraulics, allowing them to ensure a regular supply of water to their crops and gardens, while enabled them to build structures linked to water, such as fountains, pools, baths and pools, which ornamental acquired numerous occasions and emphasized its beautiful gardens.
The Hispano gardening left a legacy assumed by later cultures found on the peninsula, especially in the use of courtyards for gardens contain small dimensions, the exterior landscape agglutination housing, the use of water resources, or the use species fruit in the garden, as the vine or olive.
During the eighteenth century the farm garden landscaping inspired numerous projects estates of noble families, who joined nature and architecture for the sake of some outdoor recreational spaces for recreation and relaxation.

For centuries, the Canaries flora is the subject of interest of specialists of half the world. The archipelago together a large number of missing full points species. In Gran Canaria there are over a hundred varieties that can only be seen on the island, together with five hundred other species whose exclusivity shared with other territories of the archipelago. All this supports the claim that the Canaries are to study the flora what the Galapagos wildlife.
The Canaries flora is the set of species vegetables that can be found in the wild in the Canary Islands. Comprises 1750 or 1800 species of plants, of about 500 are endemic canaries, another 500 are indigenous to the region Macaronesian and the rest were probably introduced in modern times after the conquest of the islands.
The Canarian flora appears to have originated in the European subtropical flora of the end of the Tertiary. The remains fossils of many species, found in the Mediterranean Europe and in southern Russia, are identical to some endemic species that exist at the present time in the Canaries and Madeira.
The terrain and climate of the islands favors the creation of 'vegetation zones' or habitats can be grouped according to common characteristics and species. These areas tend to be more or less defined altitudes, although the altitude varies according to the orientation (which influences rainfall) and the topography of the island or area of the island where you are. This area usually occupies land of abundant rainfall, mostly occupying the favorable areas of northern islands between 400 and 1500 meters, thus benefiting from moisture provided by the trade winds to form these a sea of clouds. Forest comprises two subtypes: the laurilsilva and fayalbrezal.
The first impression of Gran Canaria to most people who come to the island, is not to be a beautiful subtropical island. This is because the waterfront (industrial semi) between Las Palmas and the tourist area is too sterile. Respect the environment. The Canaries are thousands of species that are not in other parts of the world and we must protect the fields of fires and pollution. The beaches should also be kept clean and free of garbage containers they are always at all beaches and fantastic and always stay when tourists return will remain just as comfortable.
The Roque Nublo is full and fresh air and with unbeatable views of the Teide and the other islands. This climatic variability of the Islands Canary, together with its rugged terrain has led to the development and conservation of nature with very different ecosystems with a great biological diversity. If you travel to the Islands Canaries you can find from arid deserts to rain forests and high mountain areas, which inhabit his peculiar lot of plants and animals, many of them unique to these islands. Therefore the nature of the Canary Islands are an oceanic island areas have a higher concentration of endemic worldwide.
Gran Canaria is known as the miniature continent due to the diversity of landscapes it offers. Here you can enjoy numerous parks and protected areas. The island of Gran Canaria is possibly the island's tropical landscapes of the Canary archipelago. If you love nature, here you can live with great intensity, as even the very island of Gran Canaria has been declared a Biosphere Reserve. To preserve this treasure have created standards of protection that guarantee the survival of the many natural spaces most significant from the point of view of natural resources and sustainability.
