Fleur de Lys, Newfoundland has an ancient soapstone quarry which has been used for most of the past 4000 years, from the archaic period onwards. Between 400-1100 CE the quarry was used as a source of soapstone bowls and lamps by the Dorset culture. The scars of quarried and partially-quarried bowls and lamps remain. Filmed 21 Aug 2012. Declared a National Historic Site of Canada in 1987.
