Updae on Union Station project in downtown Wichita
Occidental Management president Chad Stafford leads a tour of the Union Station redevelopment project in downtown Wichita. (Bryan Horwath/The Wichita Eagle) Read more here:
Found Footage: July 1962 Wichita Kansas Downtown McConnell Air Base B-52 Air Force Thunderbird
In this 8mm film home movie from July of 1962, the family starts with a walk in downtown Wichita, Kansas. The young pretty woman walks the streets and sees the sights. After, they head to an open house at McConnell Air Base, which is located Southeast of Wichita. There are B-52H airplanes and some scale models of various other aircraft. The United States Air Force Thunderbirds in F-100 airplanes are filmed in flight.
My favorite part of this home movie is the smile of the man's face when he stands next to the scale model (around minute 1:16). Talk about a man in his element- pure joy!

SUMMARY
=======
Wichita ( WITCH-i-taw) is the largest city in the U.S. state of Kansas and the county seat of Sedgwick County. As of 2017, the estimated population of the city was 390,591. Wichita is the principal city of the Wichita metropolitan area which had an estimated population of 644,610 in 2015.Located in south-central Kansas on the Arkansas River, Wichita began as a trading post on the Chisholm Trail in the 1860s and was incorporated as a city in 1870. It became a destination for cattle drives traveling north from Texas to Kansas railroads, earning it the nickname Cowtown.In the 1920s and '30s, businessmen and aeronautical engineers established aircraft manufacturing companies in Wichita, including Beechcraft, Cessna, and Stearman Aircraft. The city became a U.S. aircraft production hub known as The Air Capital of the World. Textron Aviation, Learjet, Airbus, and Spirit AeroSystems continue to operate design and manufacturing facilities in Wichita, and the city remains a major center of the American aircraft industry. Wichita is also home to McConnell Air Force Base, and Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, the largest airport in Kansas.
As an industrial hub, Wichita is a regional center of culture, media, and trade. It hosts several universities, large museums, theaters, parks, and entertainment venues, notably Intrust Bank Arena and Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center. The city's Old Cowtown Museum maintains historical artifacts and exhibits on the city's early history. Wichita State University is the third-largest post-secondary institution in the state.
Air Capital of the World
Wichita hosts the world’s best known aviation cluster, and is often referred to as the “Air Capital of the World.”
Aircraft and aircraft components have been built with Wichita expertise and craftsmanship for over 100 years. Wichita offers one of the largest aerospace labor pools and supplier networks in the world. According to a Milken Institute study, Wichita has the highest concentration of aerospace manufacturing employment and skills in the nation. About 52% of Wichita metro area manufacturing employment (52,400) – or some 27,500 persons – is in aerospace products and parts.
The Wichita area hosts the industry's top general aviation OEMs - Bombardier Learjet and Textron Aviation which includes Cessna Aircraft and Beechcraft Corp. Wichita is also home to an Airbus Engineering Design Center. During 2016, Wichita companies delivered 43% of all general aviation airplanes built in the United States, and accounted for 29% of global general aviation airplane deliveries. Located in Wichita is some of the most specialized equipment in the world for metal and composite material fabrication. Decades of aircraft production has built a comprehensive network of over 350 precision machine shops, tool & die shops and other aerospace subcontract manufacturers. There are 18 Boeing-certified gold and silver suppliers within a 200-mile radius. Those leading edge suppliers include Spirit AeroSystems, the world’s largest independent producer of commercial aircraft structures. Wichita firms either directly manufacture, or provide critical components for, over half of all general aviation, commercial and military aircraft. Industry-specific business advantages for aviation manufacturing include exemption of commercial aircraft and components from all sales taxes (including wet leases), liberal fly-away exemption and no excise tax on jet fuel and aviation gas. Wichita’s history in aviation has positioned its state and federal elected officials well to protect and advance critical legislation.

SUMMARY
=======
Will Rogers World Airport (IATA: OKC, ICAO: KOKC, FAA LID: OKC), a.k.a. Will Rogers Airport or simply Will Rogers, is an American passenger airport in Oklahoma City located about 6 miles (8 km) Southwest of downtown Oklahoma City. It is a civil-military airport on 8,081 acres (3,270 ha) of land. Although the official IATA and ICAO airport codes for Will Rogers World Airport are OKC and KOKC, it is common practice to refer to it as WRWA or Will Rogers.
The airport is named for comedian and legendary cowboy Will Rogers, an Oklahoma native who died in an airplane crash near Barrow, Alaska in 1935. The city's other major airport, Wiley Post Airport, along with the Wiley Post–Will Rogers Memorial Airport in Barrow, Alaska, are named for Wiley Post, who also died in the same crash. Will Rogers World Airport is the only airport to use the designation World in addition to no reference to its city location. Although Will Rogers offers US Customs and Immigration Services, there are currently no scheduled international flights.
Will Rogers World Airport is the busiest commercial airport in the state of Oklahoma. In 2018, the airport handled 4.34 million passengers, marking the busiest year on record two years in a row. Southwest Airlines carries the most passengers at Will Rogers World Airport, with a market share of nearly 38% as of December 2018.
Rose Building Elevator Modernization
I wanted to make a special video for my 3-year anniversary date, so this is what I chose. Overall I think Schindler did a great job modernizing this elevator minus taking 10 seconds to level going up. The great views at the top still remain awesome! Sorry that I should've taken more pictures and went more in-depth into the modernization, but school was making that hard, but that's more important. I hope everyone enjoys this!
