Doukhobor Discovery Centre, Castlegar
A great opportunity to learn about the Doukhobors as part of British Columbia history. What we found here was so unexpected. If you pass Castlegar don't miss this place. Having grown up in Eastern Europe, it was very emotional to me as it brought memories of my childhood and my grandmothers. I could feel the taste and smell of the bread coming out of that brick oven ... or the sweat down my spine handling some of those tools that are exposed. As a 'thank you' to those who made this museum possible I created this video. Hope you are enjoying it.
Doukhobor Discovery Centre in Castlegar, British Columbia. It contains over a thousand artifacts representing the arts, crafts, and daily life of the Doukhobors of the Kootenays in 1908–1938. The Doukhobors are of Russian origin. With support from the Canadian government, 7500 moved to Western Canada (today the province of Saskatchewan) around 1900 and established about 70 villages.
Writer Leo Tolstoy arranged for the royalties from his novel Resurrection, his story Father Sergei, and some others, to go to the emigration fund. He also raised money from wealthy friends. In the end, his efforts provided about 30,000 rubles, half of the emigration fund.
Between 1908 and 1912, some 6,000 people moved to British Columbia lands from Saskatchewan. They settled in the area around Grand Forks and in the Slocan Valley around Castlegar. Nearly 80 communal villages were constructed.

Dear one's, If you have not already, I encourage you to Fully surrender everything to the Father through His Son Yeshua HaMashich. Just talk to him. He already knows everything about you right where you are. He loves you and wishes that all should come to repentance and be saved. Then he will gently teach you through His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will lead, guide you, and teach you all things in truth. Just fully surrender and take His hand. Be baptized with water and the Holy Spirit and just walk and talk with him. It does not require anyone else, just you and Him. The Most High, The Father loves you!
